🔥 三得利看上Allied Blenders 10-15%股份,威士忌巨頭深化印度市場布局

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Japan’s Suntory eyes 10-15% stake in Allied Blenders as whisky giant deepens India play - Indian Television Dot Com

Brands Japan’s Suntory eyes 10-15% stake in Allied Blenders as whisky giant deepens India play Japanese beverage giant explores strategic tie-up to expand its presence in India’s whisky market MUMBAI: Japan’s Suntory Holdings could be raising a glass to a bigger India play. The beverage major is in early discussions to acquire a minority stake in Allied Blenders and Distillers, the maker of Officer’s Choice whisky, according to an Economic Times report. The discussions are centred on a potential strategic partnership that could bring together Suntory’s premium international spirits portfolio and Allied Blenders’ scale in India’s mass and mid-premium segments. Allied Blenders could dilute around 10 to 15 per cent of its equity as part of the proposed transaction. Suntory is also evaluating potential distribution and manufacturing synergies with the Indian spirits maker. The potential investment would give Suntory a larger presence in India’s mass whisky market, where the Japanese company remains relatively smaller compared with its premium spirits business. Allied Blenders, controlled by promoter Kishore Chhabria, is India’s third-largest listed spirits maker. The Mumbai-based company has a market capitalisation of around Rs 20,000 crore and operates 38 manufacturing units. It raised Rs 1,500 crore through its initial public offering in 2024. The proposed transaction is expected to be largely primary in nature, with the promoters potentially diluting part of their holding to bring Suntory on board. The ET report also said the promoters could consider ceding a majority stake to the Japanese company over the longer term, although the discussions remain at an early stage. The development comes shortly after Bina Kishore Chhabria, a promoter of Allied Blenders and Distillers, sold a 1.96 per cent stake in the company for Rs 357.6 crore through an open-market transaction. The sale came a day after the company disclosed that a promoter planned to sell shares to meet minimum public shareholding requirements. Following the transaction, Bina Chhabria’s holding fell to 56.24 per cent from 58.20 per cent, while the combined holding of promoters and promoter-group entities declined to 78.95 per cent from 80.91 per cent. The stake sale and the reported discussions with Suntory are separate developments, with the latter still at a preliminary stage. Suntory, considered the world’s third-largest distiller, has been looking to narrow the gap with global spirits majors Diageo and Pernod Ricard in India. The company currently generates around $150 million in annual sales from the country, according to the ET report. India is the world’s largest whisky market by volume, with sales of around 260 million cases in 2025. Diageo and Pernod Ricard both count India among their largest markets, with the country ranking first by volume and second by value for the two companies. Suntory has an established presence in India’s premium spirits segment through brands including Yamazaki, Hibiki, Toki and Jim Beam. Its India-made Oaksmith whisky targets the mass and mid-premium categories, while the company also owns Scotch whisky brand Teacher’s. The Japanese spirits maker has around 95 per cent of India’s Japanese whisky segment and about 44 per cent of the American whiskey category, according to the ET report. Suntory operates a manufacturing plant in Rajasthan and works with third-party bottling facilities in Goa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. The company established Suntory India around two years ago to explore opportunities across beverages and wellness. It has also previously explored acquisitions in India’s spirits market. Last year, Suntory was reported to have held discussions to acquire Imperial Blue from Pernod Ricard. Those talks, however, did not progress after the parties differed over valuation, according to people familiar with the matter cited in the ET report. If the Allied Blenders discussions progress, the partnership could give Suntory access to a significantly broader domestic distribution footprint while offering Allied Blenders a potential route to strengthen its premium portfolio and manufacturing capabilities. For now, however, the proposed stake sale remains under discussion, with the size, structure and longer-term ownership implications yet to be finalised.

🔥 帝亚吉欧Cameronbridge酒厂工人展开16天罢工 抗议裁员10个职位

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Workers Begin 16-Day Strike at Diageo’s Cameronbridge Distillery - Vinetur

Workers Begin 16-Day Strike at Diageo’s Cameronbridge Distillery More than 100 union members walked out at the key Scottish plant after Diageo proposed cutting 13.9% of operator roles. Monday, September 28, 2026 Workers at Diageo’s Cameronbridge distillery in Fife began the first of 16 planned strike days on Monday, opening a labor dispute that unions say could disrupt production at one of the company’s most important spirits plants in Scotland. Unite said more than 100 of its members joined the first walkout. GMB Scotland said its members also picketed outside the site as unions challenged Diageo’s plan to cut 10 operator jobs from a group of 72 positions at the distillery. That equals 13.9% of the operator workforce. The strike is due to continue in stages through Oct. 15, with different groups of workers taking action on different days after Monday’s broader stoppage. Union officials said the rolling action is designed to target specific operations at the plant. GMB said it has notified the company of 16 strike days and is considering further action. The dispute centers on the company’s restructuring plan and on how it handled consultations with employees. GMB said workers voted for industrial action after accusing Diageo of failing to properly consult on the job losses. The union said a seven-hour meeting between union representatives and management on Sunday did not produce an agreement and left workers more frustrated. Daniel Reid, a GMB Scotland organizer in the drinks industry, said the union presented alternative proposals that it believed could deliver savings without cutting the jobs in the way the company had proposed. He said those proposals were rejected by management. Unite and GMB both said the action reflects anger among a skilled workforce that believes its concerns were not taken seriously. Cameronbridge is a key site in Diageo’s production network. The plant produces grain whisky and other spirit used in whisky, gin and vodka. Unions and industry observers view it as a central part of the company’s supply chain in Scotland and the wider U.K. Cameronbridge is widely described as Europe’s largest grain whisky distillery, which means a prolonged stoppage there could have broader effects than a dispute at a smaller site. Even so, the scale of any immediate production loss remains unclear. Union officials have warned that the strikes could stop production, but no public data has been released on daily output, inventories or the financial effect of the stoppage. That means there is no independent measure yet of how much product could be delayed or lost during the action. Diageo has pushed back against the suggestion that the strikes will lead to shortages. In comments reported Monday by Latest Grocery Industry News, the company confirmed that it had proposed reducing operator roles by up to 10. It said the move was linked to lower production volumes at the site and said it does not expect the dispute to create product availability problems. The company’s position points to a familiar tension in manufacturing disputes. Employers often argue that staffing levels must reflect lower demand or lower production needs, while unions say job cuts should come only after serious talks on alternatives, especially at large strategic plants. At Cameronbridge, that disagreement has now moved from meetings into industrial action. GMB said the Cameronbridge dispute is also part of a wider concern about how Diageo is managing planned workforce reductions in Scotland. The union said workers at the company’s distilleries in the Highlands and islands have also raised concerns over consultation, with 38 jobs there said to be at risk. No agreement has been reached, according to the union, on the final number of losses or on the process for carrying them out. For workers at Cameronbridge, the issue is not only the number of jobs but also the message it sends about the future of the site. The operator group affected by the proposal works at the core of the distillery’s production process. Unions say removing 10 jobs from that team risks increasing pressure on those who remain and undermining the plant’s long-term operation. For Diageo, the immediate challenge is to contain disruption at a site that sits near the center of its Scotch and wider spirits production chain. For the unions, the goal is to use the strike calendar to force the company back into talks on staffing and consultation before the full schedule runs its course. Monday’s stoppage was the first step in that plan. Further action by separate groups of workers is scheduled on successive dates between Sept. 28 and Oct. 15 unless the two sides reach a new agreement in the meantime.

Islay is the region of Scotland that is best known for its peated whisky, with distilleries like Laphroaig, Bowmore, and Lagavulin making smoky single malts that are world-renowned. But some of the best smoky scotch produced on the island comes from Ardbeg, a cult distillery with dedicated fans spanning the globe. It just released a new 15-year-old whisky called Trudernish that will be a permanent part of its lineup, and that’s a very good thing because this is the best peated single malt of the year so far. Ardbeg has been around in some form or another since 1815, when the distillery was first founded. It mostly made whisky that was used in blends until it was shut down in the early 1980s, and operated only sporadically until it was acquired by the Glenmorangie company in 1997 (LVMH subsequently acquired both distilleries in 2004). It has been steadily making very smoky single malt scotch over the past quarter century, and has become something of a cult phenomenon among whisky enthusiasts seeking out both its modern expressions and rare bottlings from the 20th century. The core lineup is anchored by a 10-year-old expression, which was released last spring as a long-awaited cask-strength version that surpassed expectations, along with some NAS whiskies and a fantastic 25-year-old. Earlier this month, the distillery announced the release of Trudernish, a 15-year-old whisky named after an ancient settlement that was once located not far from where the distillery is today. It was aged in a combination of barrels for a minimum of 15 years: ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry, and new charred oak, which is used less often to mature scotch than it is for bourbon (the latter must be aged in new charred oak by law). The whisky was bottled at a sturdy 48.8 percent ABV, adding to a lively palate that is full of flavors like peach, vanilla, black pepper, dried fruit, leather, and of course a healthy serving of peat smoke. “A new whisky is always a momentous occasion at Ardbeg—and our first permanent 15-year-old, Ardbeg Trudernish, is truly one to celebrate,” said director of whisky creation Dr. Bill Lumsden MBE in a statement. He then provided some tasting notes of his own: “Aged in a combination of bourbon, new charred oak, and Oloroso sherry casks, our spirit’s signature smokiness is brilliantly mellowed by rich, creamy flavors, softened with age. You’ll find aromas of peat and woodsmoke engulfed in melted vanilla ice cream. There are tastes of peat, dark licorice, and nuts wrapped in milk chocolate and a long smoky finish.” Ardbeg Trudernish is available now at retailers around the country (SRP $90), and you can also find it at websites like ReserveBar.

Hardhide NEW ORLEANS, La. — September 28, 2026 — Sidewalk Side Spirits today announced Hardhide Southern Whiskey Cocktails, a new ready-to-drink line based on two favorite ways fans already enjoy Hardhide’s award-winning flavored whiskeys: Hardhide Ponchatoula Sparkling Strawberry Whiskey Lemonade and Hardhide Chilton County Peach Whiskey Iced Tea. Launching in late September in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Kentucky, the cocktails are 5.9% ABV in 355 mL (12 fl. oz.) cans, made for the grill, the tailgate, the porch and the game — wherever friends stop by and somebody reaches into the cooler to make sure everyone has something cold. “Southern hospitality isn’t about making things complicated. It’s about making people feel welcome,” said John Eason, Founder and CEO of Sidewalk Side Spirits. “We watched how people were already enjoying our whiskeys — Strawberry Whiskey with lemonade and Peach Whiskey with iced tea — and put those favorite serves into a can, so when somebody pulls up a chair, walks into the tailgate or shows up at your door, you’ve got something cold and distinctly Southern ready to share.” FROM A FAVORITE POUR TO A READY-TO-DRINK COCKTAIL The Strawberry Lemonade cocktail pairs the bright strawberry character of Hardhide’s Ponchatoula Strawberry Whiskey with sparkling lemonade; the Peach Iced Tea cocktail pairs the peach character of Hardhide’s Chilton County Peach Whiskey with one of the South’s most familiar refreshments. Both come ready to share — just chill, open and pass one to whoever pulled up a chair. “Some of the best hospitality is the simplest,” Eason said. “Good food, something cold to drink and making room for one more person. That’s what we want Hardhide to represent.” SOUTHERN FLAVOR WITH A SENSE OF PLACE Even Hardhide’s name carries the Spirit of Southern Hospitality: the brand is named for Ponchatoula’s beloved female alligator mascot, who welcomed generations of residents and visitors to town — a fitting namesake for a brand built around welcoming people in. Hardhide carries that connection forward as Official Sponsor of Kliebert & Son’s Gator Tours, home of the Kliebert family. That sense of place extends to the ingredients — strawberries from Landry-Poché Farms in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and peaches from Durbin Farms Market in Chilton County, Alabama — and to the community: the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival and Toups Family Meal in New Orleans. For Hardhide, Southern hospitality is about where you come from, who you welcome and how you take care of your community. That same commitment to real fruit and genuine whiskey character earned Chilton County Peach the Beverage Testing Institute’s 2025 Flavored Whiskey of the Year and Ponchatoula Strawberry a Platinum Award at the SIP Awards. “Hardhide started with a belief that a whiskey could tell a real Southern story — about where we’re from, the fruit our neighbors grow, the people we know and the good times we share,” Eason said. “The Southern Whiskey Cocktails are the next chapter of that story. Same hospitality. A new way to share it.” For more information about Hardhide Whiskeys and Hardhide Southern Whiskey Cocktails, visit HardhideWhiskeys.com and follow @HardhideWhiskey on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. Hardhide’s award-winning portfolio includes 86-proof Hardhide Ponchatoula Strawberry Whiskey and Hardhide Chilton County Peach Whiskey, along with Hardhide Southern Whiskey Cocktails. From the porch to the tailgate, Hardhide believes good whiskey is even better when there’s someone to share it with. 維多利亞 Winchester & Rye:以威士忌為核心的品飲與美食配對體驗

Google News(Whisky 綜合)|原題:Raise a Glass to Whiskey - City Lifestyle

菜單精選講究品質與風格多樣性的威士忌,並搭配特色調酒如 Old Fashioned 和 Manhattan(今年雙雙獲得 Star Tribune 明尼蘇達最佳獎銀獎)。

When it comes to providing a tasteful experience tailored to whiskey lovers — and those who don’t know they’re whiskey lovers yet — the owners of Winchester & Rye in Victoria have their pairings down to a science. The story of Winchester & Rye began with whiskey. And a family history steeped in it. “My great-grandparents made rye-and-corn whiskey during Prohibition, so when we created the restaurant, a real whiskey lounge felt like a natural part of it,” shares Kim Heenie, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Kevin. “Rye will always have a special place here. It’s literally in our name. My business is based on my family — her sister was a distiller at a local distillery — my friends, and our strong community ties.” And because family, friends, and community are at the heart of their story, they aim to offer a diverse selection so that everyone can find something interesting that appeals to them. With so many whiskeys to choose from, what makes it sip-worthy? “First and foremost, it has to taste good. We look for quality and character, but also balance across the list. Different styles, proofs, and price points, along with bottles that allow our guests to try something they may not have had before.” If you’re not a seasoned whiskey enthusiast, don’t worry, they have something for you, too. “I’ll usually ask what they don’t like about it. Whiskey has such a broad range of flavors that someone who dislikes a high-proof or very oak-forward bourbon may love a softer, sweeter whiskey, or discover that they enjoy whiskey in the right cocktail.” If you’re having trouble deciding what to order, Kim says that their Old Fashioned and Manhattan are big winners–literally! They both won Silver in the Star Tribune’s Minnesota’s Best Awards this year. Kim believes this reflects their respect for the classics, use of good ingredients, and the craftsmanship that goes into bringing each cocktail to the bar. That balance is key to their other cocktails, too, with flavors like citrus, cherries, blackberries, warm spices, and, she says, just enough sweetness. “There isn’t much to hide behind in an Old Fashioned, so the whiskey has to carry it. It’s simple enough that you can still taste the character of the spirit, with just enough sweetness and bitters to frame it.” Adding another layer, the team creates their own simple syrup with fresh rosemary, orange, cinnamon, vanilla, and cherry. Food pairings are also part of the signature formula at Winchester & Rye. “Our food has a lot of flavors that naturally work with whiskey — wood-fired pizza, grilled meats, spice and richer savory dishes.” Specifically, she says flavors like smoke, char, caramelization, warm spices, cherries, and other dark fruits are natural partners. “Salt and acidity are important too, as they can make both the whiskey and the food taste brighter.” For a bold pairing, try ordering their Coffee Chile-Rubbed Filet with an Old Fashioned. Kim explains that the char and richness of the steak work with the oak and caramel notes in the whiskey, while the coffee and chile add a layer of bitterness and spice. When it comes down to it, Kim says that you don’t have to be a whiskey expert to enjoy it, and there isn’t one correct way to drink it. “Neat, on the rocks, with a little water or in a great cocktail: the best whiskey is the one you enjoy drinking.” winchesterandrye.com

Rampur威士忌進駐英國四大機場免稅店 印度威士忌品牌拓展歐洲市場

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Rampur whisky expands across Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham duty-free shops - Moneycontrol.com

Up to ₹50 lakhs | Starts at 9.99% Radico Khaitan has expanded its luxury whisky portfolio across duty-free shops at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham airports, widening the international travel-retail footprint of its Rampur and Sangam brands. The rollout includes Rampur Indian Single Malt Double Cask, Rampur Asava, Rampur Barrel Blush and Sangam World Malt, the company said on Monday. Radico said it is the first Indian spirits company to have its brands available across duty-free stores at all four airports. The development expands an existing UK presence rather than marking Rampur's entry into the market. Rampur was already available at Heathrow by August, while Radico's Jaisalmer gin is sold through retail channels in the UK. The four airports give Radico access to some of the UK's busiest international travel hubs. Heathrow handled 84.5 million passengers in 2025, while Gatwick recorded 42.8 million. Manchester handled 32.09 million and Birmingham 13.65 million, taking their combined passenger traffic to about 173 million last year. Radico widens travel-retail push The airport expansion comes as Radico increases overseas distribution of its premium and luxury portfolio. Its international business has increasingly leaned on airport retail alongside conventional export markets. Airport retail helped the company post record export sales in FY26, according to Reuters. Exports accounted for about 5-6% of Radico's sales volumes and 9-10% of revenue at the time. The company said it currently has a presence across more than 65 duty-free locations globally and is targeting more than 100. Abhishek Khaitan, managing director of Radico Khaitan, said the company's international strategy was focused on building visibility for Indian premium spirits rather than simply adding more airport locations. Sanjeev Banga, president of international business, described the UK rollout as an opportunity to take Indian whisky into a market closely associated with Scotch. "There is a certain charm in taking Indian whisky to the home of Scotch whisky," Banga said. Premium brands take larger share The international expansion also comes as higher-priced brands take a larger share of Radico's domestic spirits business. Radico reported net revenue of about Rs 6,050 crore in FY26, up about 25% from the previous year. Its Prestige & Above portfolio accounted for 70.3% of IMFL sales value, compared with 69.4% in FY25, while total volumes rose to 38.3 million cases. In the first quarter of FY27, the company reported its highest quarterly volume, revenue and EBITDA to date. Revenue stood at about Rs 1,684 crore and EBITDA at Rs 348 crore, while volumes in the Prestige & Above portfolio grew 36% year on year, according to the company's results. Rampur is made at Radico's Rampur Distillery in Uttar Pradesh, which began operations in 1943. The company has been building the single malt's overseas distribution through specialist retailers and travel-retail outlets as part of a broader push into premium spirits. The new UK airport footprint gives Radico a presence across the country's three largest airports by 2025 passenger numbers, Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, as well as Birmingham, one of its largest regional hubs. The company said on Monday that its premium brands, including Rampur Indian Single Malt Double Cask, Rampur Asava, Rampur Barrel Blush and Sangam World Malt, are now available to international travellers across the four airports. Radico Khaitan said the move makes it the first Indian spirits company to have its brands available across these four major UK airport networks. The expansion gives the company access to airports that collectively handled more than 170 million passengers in 2025. Heathrow recorded around 84.5 million passengers, while Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham handled approximately 42.8 million, 32.1 million and 13.7 million passengers, respectively. The entry into the UK is significant for Radico Khaitan's global travel retail strategy as it seeks to increase the visibility of Indian luxury spirits among international consumers. The company currently has a presence across more than 65 duty-free locations globally and is targeting an expansion to over 100 locations. “Our international ambition is not simply about increasing the number of airports in which we operate. It is about building meaningful brand presence and ensuring that Indian spirits are experienced in the right environments,” Abhishek Khaitan, managing director of Radico Khaitan, said. The move comes as the company places greater emphasis on its premium and luxury portfolio. Its Prestige & Above segment accounted for 70.3% of its Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) value in FY26, highlighting the growing contribution of premium products to its business. Rampur Indian Single Malt is produced at Radico Khaitan's Rampur Distillery, which was established in 1943. The company said the whisky draws on the climate of the Himalayan foothills, with its portfolio including Double Cask, Asava and Barrel Blush expressions. Sangam World Malt adds another premium whisky label to the company's international portfolio, supporting its strategy of building a wider range of Indian luxury spirits for overseas consumers. “There is a certain charm in taking Indian whisky to the home of Scotch whisky,” Sanjeev Banga, president of international business at Radico Khaitan, said. “We are not asking the world to choose between Scotch and Indian whisky. We are simply making sure that Indian whisky gets a seat at the table.” Radico Khaitan's international expansion is also backed by strong recent financial performance. The company's net revenue stood at approximately Rs 6,050 crore in FY26, while IMFL volumes rose 22% to 38.3 million cases. Radico Khaitan said its global travel retail expansion is aimed at strengthening brand visibility, encouraging trial and building recognition for Indian spirits among international travellers. Costco 20美元以下最划算威士忌:Chivas Regal 12年威士忌出乎意料地便宜

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:One Of Costco's Best Liquors Under $20 Is A Surprisingly Affordable 12-Year-Old Scotch - Tasting Table

One Of Costco's Best Liquors Under $20 Is A Surprisingly Affordable 12-Year-Old Scotch If the words "budget liquor" conjure headache-inducing images of Everclear and J.T.S. Brown, then chances are you haven't been shopping at Costco. Many wallet-conscious imbibers applaud Costco's popular oeuvre of Kirkland brand liquor offerings (and rightly so). But, here at Tasting Table, another darling has claimed the apple of our eye. In our roundup of Costco's 12 best under $20 liquor you can't skip, we named Chivas Regal 12-Year Blended Scotch as a category standout. Chivas Regal 12-Year Blended Scotch may be a traditional Scottish whisky, but it sports an uncommon combination of rich body and mild flavor. On the nose, Chivas Regal arrives with a rugged bouquet of heather honey, orchard fruits, wild herbs, orange peel, and vanilla. From there, the palate opens to quintessential Scotch grain and caramel with a pronounced floral note, followed by layered tones of honeyed apples, butterscotch, and hazelnut that end in a dry, medium-length finish with notes of jasmine. This amber hued spirit gets oak-aged for a minimum of 12 years, yet it doesn't arrive with any harsh woodiness, instead yielding smooth, well-balanced dimensionality at an industry standard 40% ABV. This premium offering has a longstanding brand history in Speyside region. Chivas has been crafting whisky in Scotland since the early 1800s, emerging as a luxury spirits brand in 1843 after receiving an honorary royal warrant to supply whisky to Queen Victoria at Balmoral Castle. Centuries later, that reputation rooted in quality still holds up. Chivas Regal 12-Year Blended Scotch costs a fraction of retail price at Costco As we mentioned in our review, we appreciate Chivas Regal for offering a taste that's complex enough to enjoy as-is on the rocks or to use as the foundation of a flavorful Scotch-based cocktail (Rusty Nail, anyone?). Customer reviews posted to TotalWine praise this bottle as an ideal introduction to the spirits category for unacquainted imbibers: "Chivas 12 is a great place to start with scotch whisky, it has some of the basic tasting notes of a non cask finished scotch. The flavors in [Chivas] are mild and very balanced, this is one easy drinking and flavorful scotch." Elsewhere online, a Reddit thread in r/Scotch echoes its pleasant, unoffensive profile, which many (even beginner) sippers can enjoy: "not too smoky or too sweet. Because of its 'neutrality', it's something most people don't love or hate." Another post praises Chivas Regal as "A rather nice dram for an affordable price [...] I would buy again if I was looking for a nice affordable whisky to have with a few friends." Perhaps best of all, at Costco, this impressive aged bottle can be secured for far below average retail price. A 750 ml bottle of Chivas Regal currently sells for $30.99 at Target. According to Warehouse Runner, the same sized bottle is sold at Costco for $10.07 to $23.09, varying by location, at an average price of $20.78.

The limited-edition expression launches nationwide in the US on October 9, 2026, and is the first in the series to receive two cask finishes. The Whiskey Wash is protected by reCAPTCHA, and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. “The Cellar Collection is where we challenge ourselves to explore what’s possible through finishing, while using the very best of our whiskey archives,” said Martin. “With Volume 6, I wanted to build layers of flavor. The peach brandy barrels bring vibrant fruitiness, while the toasted oak adds warmth. Together, they create a whiskey that’s complex yet balanced, elevating rye in unexpected ways.” The component whiskeys were aged for between eight and 11 years in total. Some spent 15 to 23 months in peach brandy barrels, while others spent six to 12 months in toasted oak. Angel’s Envy bottled the rye at 106.4 proof (53.2% ABV). According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers ripe stone fruit, baking spice, vanilla, and oak. The palate brings peach, caramel, cinnamon, toasted oak, and rye spice, followed by a long, warming finish of oak and orchard fruit. Around 36,000 750ml bottles will be available. Each carries a suggested retail price of $199.99 (£151 / ₹19,199). Every Kirkland Bourbon Ranked, From Worst to Best READ THE STORYVolume 6 follows last year’s Cellar Collection Volume 5, a straight rye whiskey aged up to seven years, finished for up to 12 months in French oak barrels that had previously held Patrón Extra Añejo tequila, then blended with an older straight rye aged for more than 11 years. It was also the first Cellar Collection release overseen entirely by Angel’s Envy’s relatively new Master Distiller, Owen Martin. Founded in 2010, Angel’s Envy was among the first American whiskey producers to use secondary finishing across its whole portfolio. Its core range includes a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in Port wine barrels and a rye finished in Caribbean rum casks. In 2016, the company opened its distillery at 500 East Main Street. It became the first full-production whiskey distillery in downtown Louisville. Angel’s Envy completed an $8.2 million expansion of the site in June 2022, doubling annual guest capacity. Louisville Distilling Company, a subsidiary of Bacardi Limited, produces the brand. Angel’s Envy is available in all 50 US states and several international markets.

It is a ridiculous understatement to say there are a lot of whiskies in the world. From Scotch to bourbon, Irish to Japanese, Indian to English, we are spoiled for choice right now. Whether you are already a whisky lover or just setting out on your journey, the sheer volume of bottles can feel overwhelming. So I set out to build a list. Not the 30 greatest whiskies ever made, but 30 bottles that every drinker should try at some point. Classics, game changers, modern mavericks, and yes, a bit of weird stuff too. Signup now to make sure you don't miss out on the latest whiskey news and deals. By Signing up, you accept and agree to our Terms of Services and you acknowledge our Privacy Statement. The Whiskey Wash is protected by reCAPTCHA, and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. The first stretch of any journey belongs to the gateway bottles, the ones that transcend what people even think of as whisky. Jack Daniel’s has been so brilliantly marketed that many do not see it as whiskey at all, yet it remains a staple for a reason. Jameson is the Irish workhorse, soft and easy, a real great starting point. Glenfiddich 12 opened the door to single malt for countless drinkers, offering an astonishing amount of bang for your buck. Even Johnnie Walker Red, which off the top of my head is the whisky I dislike the most, is an industry lynchpin worth understanding. Once you move past those entry bottles, things get more interesting. This is where the enthusiast staples live. Glencadam 10 is pure magic, fully natural, spirit driven, and staggeringly affordable. Craigellachie 13 proves Speyside is not always soft and delicate, and Clynelish 14 gives you that famous waxy note everyone talks about. Then the smoke arrives. Talisker 10, Laphroaig 10, Lagavulin 16, and the mighty Ardbeg 10 are all Islay heavyweights that deserve a place on any drinker’s shelf. If you have written off smoky Scotch, these will change your mind. What excites me most, though, is how global whisky has become. Whisky is not just Scotch. Westland shows the American single malt movement is a mighty category in its own right. Indri Trini highlights India’s hot climate character, while Hibiki Harmony and Nikka From The Barrel demonstrate Japan’s meteoric rise. And when you climb into the luxury tier, from Johnnie Walker Blue Label to Macallan 12 and the experimental Glenmorangie Signet, you find bottles that taste of luxury, even if some rinse your wallet like a Rolex in the sink. This list is not the be-all and end-all. There are simply too many wonderful whiskies to try. Seek out a birth-year whisky, hunt down something local from a shed or garage distillery, and discover a gem that feels special to you. So grab a dram, and tell me: what bottles did I miss? Highland Park 攜手埃及裔藝術家推出17年份威士忌,耗時80多桶精選而成

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:This 17-year-old whisky was inspired by Egypt and took more than 80 casks to perfect - Whisky Monkeys

Highland Park 與藝術家 Laila Gohar 合作推出「Between You and I」系列第二版,兩款 17 年份單一麥芽威士忌。

What do you get when a famed Scottish whisky maker teams up with an artist who draws inspiration from both Egypt and New York? In Highland Park’s case, the result is two brand-new single malt whiskies. The Orkney distillery has joined forces with artist Laila Gohar to create a pair of 17-year-old single malts that will look right at home on any whisky shelf. The whiskies are part of the series Between You and I. For this line, Highland Park collaborates with creative minds from the worlds of art, fashion, and food. Each whisky blends the character of the distillery and its island home with the personal story of the featured artist. After last year’s inaugural release, it’s now Laila Gohar’s turn for edition two. What makes the new Highland Park whisky special? For the first of the two new whiskies, master whisky maker Marc Watson took inspiration from Gohar’s Egyptian heritage. He sampled more than 80 different casks before settling on the final composition. 'We sampled more than 80 casks before selecting those with the vibrant, spice-forward character I was looking for, balanced by notes of creamy vanilla. Those were the qualities I hoped would evoke memories of Laila’s Egyptian roots, but the most rewarding moment came when Laila tasted the whisky herself. The flavours immediately transported her back to Cairo. Moments like that remind me of whisky’s remarkable ability to evoke memory and emotion.'  - Marc WatsonThe whisky first matured for 11 years in refill casks, then continued aging in highly active, virgin American oak. The result is a profile that includes notes of orange blossom, leather, and warming spices, layered, of course, with Highland Park’s signature aromatic peat smoke. The official tasting notes are: - Nose: Orange blossom and aromatic peat smoke. - Palate: Leather and warming spices, complemented by Highland Park’s hallmark subtle smoke. - Finish: Spicy and smoky. The combination is no coincidence. The intention was to craft a whisky that would evoke Gohar’s Egyptian roots and the feeling of home. A Scottish whisky inspired by New York The collaboration doesn’t end there. A second Highland Park 17 Year Old has also been created. It’s called Between You and I: Journeys and draws its inspiration from New York, the city Gohar calls home. This whisky is anchored by new Spanish oak casks. According to the official tasting notes, you can expect cinnamon, warming spices, and subtle smoke. Ex-bourbon casks add vanilla, while sherry-seasoned oak delivers deep chocolate tones. The idea behind Journeys is that the flavors take you on a sensory voyage. As Gohar tasted it, she pictured a Moroccan night market, a frozen high plateau, and Tokyo’s streets after dark. | New whiskies at Whisky Exchange | | | Highland Park 17 Year Old Between You and I | 116 pounds | | The Glenturret Remanence | 88,95 pounds | | Compass Box This is a 20-year old whisky | 63,95 pounds | How much do the Highland Park Between You and I whiskies cost? Both 17-year-old Highland Park whiskies carry a suggested price of 160 dollars, which works out to around 120 pounds. The euro price has not been announced. Both whiskies are out now, but availability differs. The Egypt-inspired Between You and I is a global release, available online and through selected retailers. Highland Park 威士忌為何無法在世界其他地方製造——探究奧克尼島的獨特風土

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Why Highland Park Whisky Can’t Be Made Anywhere Else in the World - Whisky Monkeys

You can spot a glass of Highland Park not just by its color or its gentle wisp of smoke, but above all by the harmony of sweet fruit, honey, and spice. That character is inseparable from its homeland: Orkney. But what exactly does the island do to the whisky, where does that smoke come from, and why can’t Highland Park be made the same way anywhere else? Here’s what lies behind the magic in these bottles of Scottish single malt whisky. The distinctive taste and aroma of Highland Park are born in a place with a character all its own. Highland Park has been making whisky since 1798 in Kirkwall on Orkney, an island group north of mainland Scotland. It’s far more than a charming address on a label. It’s a unique place where, for thousands of years, an ingredient has been quietly biding its time, ready to deliver one of Highland Park’s signature traits. | New whiskies at Whisky Exchange | | | Highland Park 17 Year Old Between You and I | 116 pounds | | The Glenturret Remanence | 88,95 pounds | | Compass Box This is a 20-year old whisky | 63,95 pounds | It all begins on Hobbister Moor We’re talking about the peat Highland Park uses to dry its malted barley. A few kilometers outside Kirkwall lies Hobbister Moor, the very spot where Highland Park cuts its peat. This peat is special: relentless island winds make it hard for trees to grow, so Orkney has few large trees. Heather thrives here instead, and over centuries that heather has become part of the peat layers. Highland Park is the only distillery in the world, and the only single malt, to use this specific Orkney heathered peat. When the malt is kilned, that peat imparts a subtler, more aromatic character than you might expect when you hear the word “peated.” So don’t expect a glass where smoke bulldozes everything in its path or calls to mind an ashtray. Highland Park is all about balance: think heather honey, sweet fruit, and warm spices, with a fine ribbon of fragrant smoke in the background. That unique peat immediately weaves a signature element into the Highland Park spirit that will one day become whisky. But that’s not the whole story. Highland Park holds fast to strong traditions At the distillery itself, Highland Park still does something rare these days: it operates traditional malting floors. A portion of the barley is malted here and turned by hand before the malt heads to the kilns. That’s where Hobbister Moor comes back into play. Local peat is used during drying, lending its aromatic smoke to the malt. Highland Park still runs two traditional kilns for this, and even the newer of the two is now over a century old. In the glass, you taste a piece of history from those kilns, along with the craftsmanship, blood, sweat, and tears of the people working the malt. Floor malting is labor-intensive and far from the easiest way to make whisky. Highland Park sticks with it because the process is essential to the whisky’s character. It ensures the smoke isn’t an afterthought, but part of the spirit from the very first moment. It also keeps a measure of quality control firmly in their own hands. From the sherry bodegas to Scotland’s Orkney Peat is only part of the story. Highland Park invests extraordinary care in the casks where the spirit then rests for years. Sherry-seasoned European and American oak play a leading role. You might think this is a simple step—but you’d be very much mistaken. Cask selection and preparation can begin as much as five years before any Highland Park ever sees the inside of a barrel. The wood is chosen and air-dried, then made into casks in southern Spain. These are filled with sherry for 12 to 18 months at local bodegas, and only then are they shipped to Orkney. Highland Park says the cask is responsible for around 60 percent of the whisky’s flavor and 100 percent of its natural color. Take that first number as a way of underscoring just how vital the wood is. The fact remains: they go to great lengths to keep a tight grip on their casks. Crafting flavor The type of oak, the size of the cask, and whether it’s first-fill or refill all make a big difference. First-fill casks typically impart a much stronger influence from the wood, while refills leave more room for the spirit’s original character to shine. European oak can bring dried fruit, tannins, and baking spices. American oak leans creamier, towards vanilla. Sherry seasoning adds layers of rich dried fruit and color. That gives Highland Park a rich palette to play with. The smoke from Hobbister Moor remains the common thread, while different casks can weave in fruit, vanilla, chocolate, spice, or dried fruit around it. Combine that with the aromatic peat smoke unique to Orkney and you see why Highland Park sits so beautifully between two worlds: smoky, yet also sweet, spicy, and invitingly smooth. Even maturation follows Orkney’s rhythm Highland Park whisky is Orkney from A to Z. That also means the whisky simply matures on Orkney itself. At the distillery, Highland Park still uses traditional dunnage warehouses with earthen floors. There, the casks rest for years in the island’s relatively temperate climate. That climate sees fewer extreme temperature swings than many other places. Research also shows that during maturation on Orkney, less whisky is lost to the famous angel’s share than on the Scottish mainland. The Atlantic Ocean doesn’t exactly pour straight into the cask, and a warehouse by the sea doesn’t automatically mean you’ll taste salt. What it does mean is that the interaction between spirit and wood is distinctive, creating a whisky that’s singular in character. Provided you have patience—Highland Park doesn’t bottle its whisky young. And with whisky, patience rarely tastes wrong. In the end, you have to taste it for yourself Start with a Highland Park 12 and don’t just hunt for smoke. Look at what comes first: orange, sweet fruitcake, heather honey, and spice. Only then should you wait for the gentle, aromatic smoke that slowly threads through the sweeter notes. That’s exactly where Highland Park shines. The official tasting notes for the 12 Year Old even call out that interplay of Seville orange, spiced fruitcake, heather honey, and delicate peat smoke. Move on to the 18 Year Old and it turns richer and darker. Baked cherries and dark chocolate join in, with salted honeycomb and, again, that heather smoke lingering in the background. And maybe that’s ultimately the most delicious way to understand why Highland Park is so bound to Orkney. You could write a thousand more words about it, but pouring a glass works much faster. Take in the packaging that radiates Orkney from head to toe, then sip a whisky that completes the whole Orkney experience.

Whisky-making is set to bring new life to a former oil depot on Ardrishaig’s waterfront in Scotland, after planning permission was secured to transform the disused site into a craft distillery and visitor destination. The development, led by John Moore, received approval from Argyll and Bute Council on 25 September 2026. The project forms part of a wider waterfront redevelopment. Its first phase brought the nearby Steamer Terminal back into use. Approval for the distillery marks the next step in those plans. Its industrial past has left a legacy of contamination that must be addressed through redevelopment. The distillery offers an opportunity to tackle those challenges. It will also return the land to productive use. Designed by Organic Architects, the development will combine craft whisky production with tours and tasting spaces. A courtyard, terrace and greenhouse will provide further spaces for visitors to enjoy alongside the working distillery. Bari Reid, director of Organic Architects, said: “The ambition is to give people another reason to stop and spend time in Ardrishaig, contributing to the life of the village as well as making whisky. It’s particularly rewarding to help find a productive future for a site that has been difficult to bring back into use.” With planning permission now secured, the focus turns to getting work under way. The team aims to bring this long-disused part of Ardrishaig’s waterfront back to life. Every Kirkland Bourbon Ranked, From Worst to Best READ THE STORYArdrishaig sits at the southern entrance to the Crinan Canal in Argyll, on Scotland’s west coast. The village lies close to Lochgilphead, the administrative center of Argyll and Bute. The location places the distillery within the wider Campbeltown and west Highland whisky-producing region. Scotland’s whisky sector has seen a wave of new distillery openings over the past decade, with many operators pairing production facilities with visitor experiences to capture tourism revenue. Distillery tourism has become an important income stream for Scotch producers. Visitor centers allow brands to sell directly to consumers, host tastings and build long-term customer loyalty.

蘇格蘭威士忌能否擺脫老舊形象?

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Can Scotch whisky shake off its old-fashioned image? - thespiritsbusiness.com

Can Scotch whisky shake off its old-fashioned image? By Joe RogersThe fusty image of Scotch whisky has to change to meet the demands of potential new consumers. Here’s how brands are endeavouring to entice the next generation of drinkers. *This feature was originally published in the August 2026 issue of The Spirits Business magazine. The year is 2026, and Scotch whisky has an image problem. Scotch whisky, it seems, has nearly always had an image problem. In the beginning, it was too rough and unsophisticated to compete with imported spirits from France and the Caribbean. Then it caught the wave that crested with the Industrial Revolution and became a modern drink for modern times. That lasted until competition from other categories such as vodka left it looking tired and uncool. “If you go back a few generations, our grandparents didn’t have too much else to drink. Our grannies loved their whisky,” says Craig Lancaster, head of creative services at London’s Elixir Distillers. “But when alternatives to whisky turned up, like a greater selection of wines, whisky had to cement itself with an identity, and it’s that identity we’re still hanging onto now.” A bad reputation Many Scotch producers of the 20th century leaned into Caledonian kitsch and old-fashioned images of gentlemanly sophistication. Whisky, which had been enjoyed broadly, started to take on a rigid image – as did the whisky drinker. This laid the groundwork for generations of marketing built around dark spirits, high age statements, and whisky for some – but not all. “Whisky has a bad reputation as a drink for men in Aran jumpers sitting around a fireplace, which, unfortunately, sticks to it like a limpet,” adds Lancaster. “The versatility of whisky got lost to the marketing people of the 1960s and 70s, and up to today. That really needs to be addressed and undone.” Even in the 2010s, when single malt was booming and the industry was buoyant, newspapers and magazines ran articles about how Scotch whisky needed to break free from the box it had built. Drinks writers including Becky Paskin, Kristiane Westray, and Fiona Beckett all called for changes in the way whisky was presented. But as much as marketeers nodded to Highballs and tried to entice young people in for a dram, the old image has proven difficult to outgrow. This wasn’t too big a problem for producers until the market peaked in 2022 after one last pandemic-induced hurrah. Scotch whisky’s image isn’t the sole reason the category is struggling. Declining exports – down by 0.6% in value and by 4.3% in volume in 2025, according to the Scotch Whisky Association – can be attributed in part to tariffs, global instability, and the cost of doing business. This year, the UK government announced an inquiry to explore the root causes of declining Scotch whisky sales. So, the factors at play are various and complex. But it’s clear the Scotch whisky industry needs new customers. The problem with cultivating an exclusive image is that you start excluding people. Dr Bridget Dalton, semiotician and head of futures at Truth Consulting, places this crossroads moment in a broader context. “Whisky has traditionally been coded as synonymous with heritage, richness, and craft, but also status,” Dalton says. “It has been part of a historic playbook for coding class status in the UK, alongside images of hunting, smoking or billiards – a muscular, masculine version of refinement. When adjacent categories look to code a luxury product that’s palatable to men, they have historically thought of whisky. It’s been quite a boy’s club, a pillar of the gender binary. But that binary is now collapsing.” The world is changing, people are changing, and the heartland demographic of the whisky business is getting older. But Scotch whisky may not have to alter its essential nature to navigate these challenges. Rather, it could play up some of the qualities it already has. Elixir Distillers recently relaunched Speyside’s Tormore distillery, following its acquisition by the company’s owner, Sukhinder Singh. Its new range of single malts has adopted a relatively warm and inviting visual style, while the liquid itself is fine-tuned to highlight soft fruit flavours. “When we were first putting Tormore together, we tried not to make the bottle design male-focused,” Lancaster tells me. “This whisky was designed for a time before whisky shunned women; it was about going back to a more inclusive kind of approach. We wanted the branding to be soft and peachy and try to provoke the imagination about what’s in the bottle. It’s bright and easy-drinking, so all we did was emphasise the qualities that the whisky had, and go back to that image I had in my head of my grandparents drinking whisky in the summer.” That issue of when people can enjoy whisky may be as crucial as who can enjoy it. Research by IWSR – the global leader in alcohol insights – indicates that Scotch whisky consumption globally was static last year, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1%. But CAGR for long drinks with a spirit base were up by 9%. Producers are already taking their cues from wine and apéritifs to present their wares in new and potentially more accessible ways. Port of Leith Distillery in Edinburgh has sold its single grain Scotch, Table Whisky, in Burgundy-style bottles since 2023. The idea of easy, social enjoyment of whisky that this fostered for the brand continued this year with the launch of Table Whisky in a 100ml canned Old Fashioned. Scotch, it seems, would do well to meet the needs being fulfilled by longer serves like Spritzes and ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails. In this area, Dalton identifies potential. “Scotch whisky may seem at odds with the sunshine-in-a-bottle connotations of the popular apéritif moment,” says Dalton. “The opportunity for the category now is in understanding what credible depth it can add to these daylight moments. Can producers take the cask of whisky and tell its story in such a way as to invite an accessible interaction? In terms of communicating value, the route forward for whisky is clear. Whisky boasts history, craft, knowledge, and expertise – it can be both delicate and punchy. The distillery can be seen as a bastion of knowledge and power. Those kinds of stories are very compelling, and may offer an alternative to the synthetic face of the RTD explosion.” Embrace diversity Lancaster says Scotch whisky producers must embrace diversity to navigate this latest cycle of boom into bust. “Japanese producers were pretty unsuccessful at marketing or building whisky brands until the point when they started looking at ‘mood whisky’. They set out purposely to create whiskies you might drink during the day in the summer, and whiskies that go better with food. They’ve undone a lot of the marketing that Scotch has done to itself and made whisky more of a lifestyle thing. It fits in with your lifestyle and how you live today. Scotch is the other way round. Scotch says ‘you come to me’.” The value of meeting drinkers where they are is clear. By drawing on the great range of styles and flavours represented by Scotland’s 150-plus whisky distilleries, the category should be able to capitalise on a greater degree of occasions than it currently does. Ifan Jenkins, global managing director for Monkey Shoulder blended malt is effusive about putting his whisky into a broad range of situations. “Whisky marketing has often centred around the whisky-making process, heritage, provenance, and the enjoyment of a neat dram, and that’s an authentic part of the category that continues to resonate with many drinkers today. Monkey Shoulder has simply chosen a different lane. We focus on introducing Scotch to audiences who may not have previously considered it.” The William Grant & Sons-owned brand has forged partnerships with music venues, launched a grassroots music initiative with DJ Gilles Peterson and Worldwide FM, and even driven a giant cement mixer/cocktail shaker to festiva

Man convicted in stabbing of local market manager during whiskey theft COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) — A Kenton County jury has convicted a 29-year-old man of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault after prosecutors said he attacked a Covington store manager who confronted him over a bottle of whiskey. The jury found Brandon Kyle Baez guilty Friday and recommended a 15-year prison sentence: 10 years for robbery and five years for assault, to be served consecutively. Kenton Circuit Judge Patricia Summe will formally sentence Baez in November. The charges stem from a March 1, 2025, incident at Covington Market & Liquor, 707 Madison Ave. Store manager Preetpal Singh testified that he saw Baez conceal a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey and asked him to return it. Prosecutors said Baez responded by spraying Singh in the face with dog repellent. A struggle followed, during which Baez threw a wine bottle, punched and bit Singh, then pulled a knife and stabbed him in the leg, according to prosecutors. Baez tried to leave the store, but customers came to Singh’s aid and prevented him from getting out, testimony showed. Covington Police Specialist Ross Woodward said he found Baez on the store floor, where Singh and another customer were restraining him. Woodward testified that officers used a Taser after Baez did not follow commands. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jordan Sherrow said the case began as an alleged shoplifting incident but escalated when Baez chose violence. “Robbery may not have been this defendant’s plan when he entered the store, but his plans changed for the worse when he decided to attack Mr. Singh rather than give up the liquor,” Sherrow said in a statement. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said the consecutive sentencing recommendation reflected the seriousness of the offenses.

Wanderfolk ages the blend in Guthrie in 53-gallon New American White Oak barrels with a Level 3-4 char. The finished whiskey is 93 proof (46.5% ABV). The brand pitches Tallbird as a mixing whiskey for the Old Fashioned, Manhattan and Sour. It calls the liquid “rich and approachable whiskey that was tailor-made for classic cocktails.” “We’re committed to creating spirits as unique and distinctive as those who enjoy them,” said Jeffrey Cole, head distiller at Wanderfolk Distillery. “Tallbird is a Whiskey of the Golden Age – a time when a well-aged bourbon wasn’t something you paid a premium for,” Cole added. “Good doesn’t have to be expensive.” Cole was the founding president of both the USBG OKC chapter and the Oklahoma Distillers’ Guild. He has opened more than a dozen bars across the Midwest. Every Kirkland Bourbon Ranked, From Worst to Best READ THE STORYAccording to the official notes from the brand, the nose has sweet marzipan, cardamom, citrus and tropical mango. Butterscotch, graham crackers and a hint of leather follow on the palate. The finish is “luscious and sweet with the creaminess of a tres leches dessert.” The Tallbird name comes from nicknames for aircraft used in sonic boom tests during the 1950s and ’60s. On the label, an American cowboy rides one of the aircraft like a mechanical bull. The company said the artwork shows “the brand’s Oklahoma roots and playful side.” Tallbird is sold through the brand’s website and at craft spirits retailers in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. A 750ml bottle has a suggested retail price of $25 (£19 / ₹2,399). Wanderfolk also plans to open its tasting room at 124 E. Oklahoma Avenue in Guthrie later this fall. The company describes itself as Oklahoma’s first legal distillery. Its range also includes Garden Society and Prairie Wolf Spirits, which cover gin, vodka and coffee liqueur, plus Same Old Moses bourbon.
