🔥 愛爾蘭威士忌將在免稅零售市場超越蘇格蘭威士忌

Google News(Whisky 綜合)|原題:Irish whiskey to outpace Scotch in travel retail - The Spirits Business

Irish whiskey to outpace Scotch in travel retail The Irish whiskey category is gaining depth and a lengthening ladder of price points at airport shops outside of Ireland. *This feature was originally published in the May 2026 issue of The Spirits Business magazine. Irish whiskey has traditionally played second fiddle to Scotch in travel retail, but the category is now set to outperform its much larger rival across the Irish Sea. Before the turn of the Millennium, the typical assortment in airport shops globally would rarely extend beyond the big three of Jameson, Bushmills, and Tullamore Dew, but the Irish whiskey business has experienced a massive resurgence this century, with more than 40 new distilleries firing up their stills. Outside of Ireland, the range of Irish whiskeys offered at leading international hubs is yet to reflect this dynamic expansion. Yet the category’s upward growth trajectory, reflecting its increasing popularity worldwide, is undeniable, according to Charlotte Reid, senior insights manager, global travel retail (GTR), at IWSR. She reveals Irish whiskey in GTR could grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3% in volume to 2029, outshining Scotch, which will only increase by a CAGR of 1% over the same period. “Irish whiskey shows no sign of plateauing, with growth forecast within all price tiers driven by increased shelf space and activity for the category,” she adds. “The US is the largest market for Irish whiskey by volume, but growth is not just limited to the US or Ireland. Asia Pacific markets such as India, the Philippines, and Japan are gaining traction.” On a more granular level, Reid explains that Irish whiskey’s brightest prospects for high-volume growth lie among adventurous shoppers in markets such as Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the US, searching for niche but “approachable” additions to their home whisky collections. In contrast, prestige-plus Irish whiskey faces a stiffer challenge against Scotch and Japanese whiskies, whose stronger provenance credentials have more resonance with travellers. “The real value-add for the category lies in leveraging the volume and visibility of premium blends to tell a compelling craft and heritage story at the shelf,” Reid argues. “This is where Irish whiskey’s competitive edge in GTR truly lives.” Over the past two decades, Irish travel retailer Aer Rianta International (ARI) has done a sterling job of promoting Irish whiskey at the country’s two main international airports, Dublin and Cork, as well as at its overseas operations, which include markets, such as Canada, Cyprus, Portugal, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and, since April this year, New York JFK Terminal 4. Anne Keane, ARI Ireland retail marketing manager, says Irish whiskey sales at Dublin Airport rose by 2.1% last year, despite a “volatile trading environment”, underlining the category’s resilience. Paul Hunnisett, ARI global head of liquor, tobacco, confectionery and souvenirs, adds that “iconic names” like Bushmills and Jameson remain “foundational” to the retailer’s offer at Dublin Airport, but he also notes that many travellers today are increasingly curious and well informed. “There is a growing appetite to discover something new and distinctive, and travel retail provides an ideal stage for those moments of discovery,” he explains. “Limited and exclusive releases such as Two Stacks’ Flight Series and Teeling’s 10 Year Old Celebratory Batch allow us to showcase the creativity and confidence of Ireland’s distillers and independent bonders, while giving travellers access to whiskies they may not find elsewhere.” In March, ARI transitioned its traditional St Patrick’s Day activation from a one-day event into a multi-week, scalable commercial platform across its overseas portfolio in locations such as Barbados, Canada, Montenegro, and Portugal, giving Irish whiskey an inevitable boost in presence. Marketing manager Jen Ryan says: “The key challenge was ensuring St Patrick’s Day felt culturally meaningful and educational rather than simply imported, particularly in emerging whiskey markets such as Montenegro or Cyprus, where passenger familiarity with Irish whiskey can be limited.” Vibrant new look In the same month, Pernod Ricard GTR launched its Travel like a Jameson campaign, an extension and amplification of the category leader’s wider ‘Must be a Jameson’ marketing campaign, which aims to showcase the whiskey’s smoothness in a light-hearted, humorous and welcoming way. “Along with debuting a vibrant new look in stores, the campaign helps to globalise the brand, ensuring we show up as one, wherever we’re sold,” explains Rae Gibson, director of power brands and emerging categories at Pernod Ricard. Gibson says Jameson’s Triple Triple GTR-exclusive expressions remain a key focus for Pernod Ricard GTR, offering travellers products they simply can’t find at home. “They have been very well received since the launch of Triple Triple Malaga Cask in 2019,” she notes. “Malaga is our best performing expression after Original in the channel.” Last year, Jameson launched Triple Triple Marsala Cask as its second limited edition whiskey. “Marsala became our first GTR exclusive to be listed in the cruise channel, and opened up more opportunities,” Gibson adds. She says Jameson Black Barrel, an expression aged in double-charred Bourbon barrels, is also proving a success in GTR, albeit at a higher price point. She cites the super-premium product’s 17% year-to-date (nine months to March 2026) growth rate as an indication of the growing global demand for trade-up options in travel markets, such as Europe, the Middle East and India. In a similar vein, Proximo Spirits is gaining traction with its new Bushmills World Wood Series – a premium, GTR-exclusive range of small-batch Irish single malts, focusing on unique cask maturation. Roy Summers, Proximo’s head of GTR, says travellers are seeking out age statements as high as 18 and 21 years, cask innovation, and exclusivity, with purchase behaviour driven both by premium gifting and an “indulgent, self-reward mindset”. He argues: “What’s encouraging is that Irish single malt is now entering a territory that was traditionally dominated by Scotch. The combination of age statements, distinctive wood finishes, and a strong provenance story allows Bushmills to compete credibly at that high-value gifting level – while offering something new and differentiated.” India’s potential In recent years, industry excitement has grown over the potential of the Indian duty free market, buoyed by swelling numbers of aspirational middle-class Indian travellers and greatly improved retailing standards at the country’s leading hub airports. It’s a market with undoubted potential for Irish whiskey, Summers agrees, but he argues that it is important a brand like Bushmills doesn’t try to “replace” Scotch, but offer a “compelling alternative”, grounded in authenticity and craftsmanship. “Indian travellers are highly engaged and brand-aware, so we lean into the depth of the Bushmills story – over 400 years of heritage, single-distillery production, and our grain-to-glass credentials,” he explains. “We also focus on flavour accessibility. Irish single malt, particularly Bushmills, offers a smoother, more approachable profile, which resonates well with consumers transitioning from blends or lighter Scotch styles. Finally, we tailor the experience in-store – through trained brand ambassadors, guided tastings, and clear communication of the World Wood Series’ cask stories. India’s potential is typical of an emerging travel retail spirits category with enormous headroom for growth in multiple regions. Inevitably, it will be harder for smaller independent brands to gain a foothold in such a high-cost distribution channel, but as growing consumer demand leads to more shelf space being allocated to Irish whiskey, opportunities will arise. Sie ist die dritte jährliche Sammlung seit 2024, und bevor wir uns mit viel Vorrede aufhalten, lassen Sie uns gleich einmal die Collection näher ansehen – und die 16 Whiskys im Detail: | Externer Text | Inhalt verantwortet das Unternehmen | BERRY BROS. & RUDD EXPLORES THE PAST AND FUTURE OF SCOTCH WHISKY IN 2026 ODYSSEY COLLECTION Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros. & Rudd, has unveiled its 2026 Odyssey collection – The Auld and the Bold – a celebration of the dialogue between Scotland’s great whisky traditions and a new generation of distillers redefining the category around the world. Comprising 20 single-cask whiskies, rums and a cognac, The Auld and the Bold continues Berry Bros. & Rudd’s Odyssey series, first launched in 2024, an ongoing collection of themed annual releases which brings together single cask spirits connected by a mutual influence to form an „Odyssey“. The Auld and the Bold explores how whisky traditions have travelled beyond Scotland, inspiring producers across the globe while continuing to shape some of the country’s most revered distilleries. Felix Dear, Spirits Curator at Berry Bros. & Rudd, said: „For this year’s Odyssey collection, we wanted to explore the relationship between heritage and innovation. Scotch whisky remains the benchmark that has inspired generations of distillers, but some of the most exciting spirits being made today are emerging from places far beyond Scotland. „The Auld and the Bold brings these worlds together, showcasing both the timeless qualities that define great whisky and the fresh perspectives that continue to push the category forward. Whether the spirit comes from Speyside, Tasmania, Yorkshire or New Zealand, what unites these bottlings is a commitment to character, craftsmanship and a strong sense of place.“ The Scottish whiskies in this release showcase the remarkable breadth of Scotch. From the waxy, time-honoured elegance of Glenlossie 1975 to the fruit-laden character of Glencadam and Blair Athol, finished in an unusual Viognier cask, the collection highlights the diversity of styles found across Scotland. Rich sherry influence shines through Longmorn, Glen Garioch and Tamdhu, while Caol Ila, Williamson and Ruadh Mhor offer distinct expressions of peat and smoke. Together, these casks showcase the patience, provenance and generational expertise that remain at the heart of great Scotch whisky. Beyond Scotland, the collection shines a light on a new generation of whisky makers inspired by Scotch tradition yet shaped by their own landscapes and climates. Australia’s Lark delivers remarkable depth through Tawny cask maturation, India’s Paul John marries Scottish peat with tropical ageing, while New Zealand’s Thomson brings distinctive Manuka-smoked character to the fore. England’s Spirit of Yorkshire demonstrates the evolution of English single malt, offering a vibrant, fruit-driven style rooted in place and craftsmanship. Denmark’s Thy and Finland’s Teerenpeli similarly draw on traditional Scotch whisky-making techniques while expressing them through local barley, climate and maturation. Together, these whiskies capture a global whisky renaissance: rooted in Scottish tradition, yet shaped by distinctive terroirs, innovative production and a confident sense of place. Three Caribbean rums join the collection, highlighting the category’s extraordinary diversity. From Foursquare’s refined tropical character and Diamond’s vibrant fruit profile to the legendary intensity of Caroni, the selection showcases some of the world’s most sought-after rum styles. Completing the release is a 35-year-old early-landed Cognac from Frapin, distilled in France, matured in the UK, and bottled at natural cask-strength. The Auld and the Bold includes 20 bottlings from 20 distilleries and will be available from July 16th 2026. All bottlings will be available to purchase from the Berry Bros. & Rudd spirits shop at No. 1 St James’s Street, London. THE WHISKIES – TASTING NOTES Blair Athol 2011, Cask #308064 ABV: 56.9% RRP: £85.00 Golden hued and arresting, this unusual Viognier finish brings a curious twist to Blair Athol’s robust core. The nose opens with tropical fruit salad, alongside honeyed brioche and teasing wisp of soft cheese rind. On the palate, coconut cream and apricot mingle with barley sugar and a cooling trace of mint, all wrapped up in a sumptuous, waxy texture. A gentle undercurrent of toasted oak and lemon curd carries through the finish, with echoes of candied ginger, and a distant floral lift. Caol Ila 2011, Cask #312219 ABV: 52.4% RRP: £95.00 Aromas of sticky – sweet cola confectionery rise from the glass, entwined with dense red-fruit preserves and a hint of scorched caramel. The palate reveals Islay’s signature peat smoke, layered over indulgent, syrup-laden sweetness . Waves of jammy opulence and caramelised crust glide into a finish marked by lingering coastal smokiness. Glencadam 2011, Cask #800224 ABV: 57.8% RRP: £80.00 An exuberant pour, bursting with tinned peaches, mango nectar, and apricot syrup. There’s lemon zest, too, alongside vanilla pod and golden honey. On the palate it’s chewy and mouth coating, with ripe stone fruits layered over soft toffee and a warming prickle of oak spice. Fresh and juicy throughout, it finishes with a satisfying echo of tropical fruit and sweet spice. Glen Garioch 2011, Cask #8029 ABV: 55.1% RRP: £95.00 A brooding dram, opening with warm walnut skins, buttered raisin loaf, and a seam of dark chocolate. A flicker of struck match drifts through but stays well- behaved, before a palate which deepens into richer cocoa, raisins steeped in syrup, and a thread of Madagascan vanilla. The finish lingers with roasted nuts and bittersweet chocolate, tapering off into a satisfying glow. Glenlossie 1975, Cask #5966 ABV: 44.6% RRP: £1,500.00 A style of whisky that has grown increasingly elusive over time . The nose opens on candle wax and beeswax polish, lifted by light florals, with a core of vibrant green, stone, and citrus fruits that remain remarkably alive. On the palate, the years are evident : it’s dense, oily and assured, with real structural presence . The finish unwinds slowly, fading through candied ginger into gently toasted malt. This is a whisky shaped not by an assertive cask, but by patience and restraint. Its calm, layered complexity reflects long, undisturbed ageing – a reminder that time, when trusted, has a way of rewarding those willing to wait. GlenWyvis 2018, Cask #157 ABV: 58.1% RRP: £85.00 The nose opens with a medley of dried fruits, lifted by a cool whisper of menthol. On the palate, waves of dark chocolate intertwine with bright orange peel and the crunch of roasted nuts, all anchored by Glen Wyvis ’ signature clean, cereal backbone . The cask has imparted fine-grained tannins to the dram that frame the flavours, adding structure without veering into austerity . The finish lingers, carrying spiced fruits and a delicate dusting of cocoa. Lark 2016, Cask #CC21 ABV: 62.9% RRP: £270.00 Our friends down under never cease to surprise, particularly in the depth of character their whiskies can achieve in such a short time in cask. The nose immediately intrigues with an unexpectedly mature depth, offering dried fruits, caramel, orange peel, dark chocolate, and ripe plum – notes reminiscent of a bold, sherry – driven malt, yet derived instead from full maturation in an Australian Tawny Port cask. The palate follows through with equal intent. There’s a firm initial grip, followed by a generous sweetness that underpins the richness. Caramel unfolds across succulent red fruits, while a measured wave of spice ke

Irish single pot still whiskey is enjoying a remarkable revival. Once the world's best-selling whiskey style during the nineteenth century, it nearly disappeared as Ireland's whiskey industry contracted through much of the twentieth century. Today, however, a renewed appreciation for traditional production methods, innovative cask maturation, and exceptional distilling has restored single pot still whiskey to its rightful place among the world's finest spirits. The latest Beverage Testing Institute (BevTest) judging underscores that renaissance, with six outstanding expressions earning Gold Medals and scores of 94 points or higher. Produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, these award-winning bottlings demonstrate both the notable versatility of Ireland's signature whiskey style and the extraordinary quality now emerging from the country's most celebrated distillery. Below are brief backgrounds on the top-ranked whiskeys, my tasting notes, and BevTest commentary. Method and Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, 46% ABV, 700 ml, Gold Medal, 95 Points The Method and Madness Single Pot Still is the flagship pot still expression from Irish Distillers' experimental micro-distillery brand, and it represents one of the most daring wood experiments in the modern Irish whiskey canon: French chestnut casks. Produced from the traditional Irish single pot still mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills, the spirit is first matured in a combination of American ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks, the classic Midleton approach, before receiving a finishing period in French chestnut casks. Chestnut wood (Castanea sativa) has been used historically in wine and cider production in France and Italy, but its use in whiskey maturation is exceptionally rare and represents a genuine first for Irish pot-still whiskey. Chestnut is more porous than oak, with higher tannin levels and a distinctive aromatic profile that imparts notes of toasted nuts, warm baking spices, and a subtle herbal quality. The combination of the sherry cask's dried-fruit richness, the bourbon cask's vanilla sweetness, and the chestnut's aromatic complexity produces a whiskey with a remarkably layered character. The nose features aromas of toasted chestnut and pecan alongside baked apple and raspberry nougat. The sherry cask influence is apparent in layers of dark dried fruit, while the pot still character asserts itself with fresh rosemary, mint, and ginger. Red licorice laces add sweetness, which weaves through the more serious aromatic complexity. It’s rich, oily, and full-bodied on the palate, showcasing sweet fruit and spice, with cinnamon toast and ripe banana from the bourbon cask maturation balanced against the darker, nuttier character of the chestnut finish. The malted and unmalted barley combination provides the characteristic pot still grip and creaminess. The finish is long and aromatic, with a distinctive green tea note that is the unmistakable signature of the chestnut wood and lingering notes of fruit, oak spices, and seasoned oak. The BevTest Judging Panel described the whiskey as offering “aromas of ginger glazed pear tart, spiced apple cider, and wild strawberry, along with touches of brown butter, caramelized banana, and orange zest. A rich and complex sipper, flavors of caramel, brown butter, and pear tart linger beautifully.” Green Spot Château Léoville Barton Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, 46% ABV, 750 Points. Gold medal, 95 Points The Green Spot brand has one of the most storied histories in Irish whiskey. It was born in 1887, when Mitchell & Son, a Dublin wine merchant established in the early 1800s, began sending empty wine casks to Jameson's Bow Street Distillery to be filled with new-make pot-still spirit. The barrels were returned to Mitchell & Son's cellars for maturation, with different coloured paint daubed on each cask to indicate the intended age: Blue Spot for seven years, Green Spot for ten, Yellow Spot for twelve, and Red Spot for fifteen. Today, Green Spot is a vatting of 7–10-year-old single pot still whiskeys matured in ex-bourbon (75%) and ex-sherry casks (25%). The Château Léoville Barton edition is part of the Green Spot "Wine Geese" series, a collection that celebrates the historical Irish diaspora in the French wine trade. The expression takes the standard Green Spot vatting and adds a further 12–24 months of maturation in French oak casks that previously held wine from Château Léoville Barton, one of the most celebrated Second Growth estates in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. Léoville Barton is overseen by the Barton family, direct descendants of Thomas Barton, an Irishman who emigrated to France in 1725 and founded a wine merchant company — one of the original "Wine Geese." The whiskey features Bordeaux wine cask aromas of raspberries and strawberries layered over classic pot-still spices, ginger, oatmeal cookies, honey, vanilla, and pear, along with a subtle floral perfume — the hallmark of French oak. It’s oily, buttery, and mouth-coating on the palate, showcasing ripe red-berry, pear, vanilla, honey, toffee, and ginger-cake flavors. The French oak adds a dry, tannic backbone, while some vanilla sweetness complements the orchard-fruit and barley-grain character. The finish is long and dry, with lingering notes of dried dark fruit and a raw ginger heat alongside the wine's spices. The BevTest Judging Panel described the whiskey as offering “aromas of coffee, corn flakes, and rolled oats, along with flavors of oak, roasted almonds, and salted cream. This is a delectable coffee-forward Irish whiskey that can be a highly satisfying sipper or the ideal way to cap off a meal.” Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, 57.6% ABV, 750 ml. Gold Medal, 95 Points Redbreast is the world's most awarded single pot still Irish whiskey and is widely regarded as the definitive expression of this style. The brand dates to 1903, when Jameson entered into an agreement with Gilbeys Wines & Spirits to supply them with new-make pot-still spirit from its Bow Street Distillery. Gilbey's matured the spirit in ex-sherry butts from their wine-importing business — giving Redbreast its characteristic sherry-forward identity. The Cask Strength expression is released in batches, each with a slightly different ABV, showing the natural variation between casks. The combination of American oak ex-bourbon barrels — which contribute vanilla, caramel, and tropical fruit — and Oloroso sherry-seasoned Spanish oak butts — which add dried fruit, dark chocolate, and warming spice — forms the foundation of the Redbreast house style. At cask strength, the sherry influence is especially marked, with the higher ABV boosting the dried fruit and spice character to extraordinary effect. The expression is non-chill-filtered, preserving the natural oils and esters that give pot-still whiskey its characteristic creamy, full-bodied texture. The whiskey features a complex, spicy, and intensely fruity nose showcasing aromas of vanilla, strawberries, red berries, and plums, alongside apricot and dried fruit from the sherry casks. Toasted wood, cinnamon, and clove provide a spicy backbone, with the characteristic pot still oils adding a creamy, almost waxy depth. It’s full-flavored, silky-smooth, and extraordinarily complex on the palate, showcasing flavors of butterscotch, red berries, clove, star anise, and ginger root. Milk chocolate, vanilla, and a rich, creamy pot still character provide balance and depth, while the sherry cask influence contributes raisins, dried figs, and dark fruit that build across the mid-palate. A few drops of water will open the whiskey further, revealing additional layers of peach, pineapple, and cream soda. The finish is long, warming, and complex, with lingering notes of dried fruit, toasted wood, and vanilla. The BevTest Judging Panel described the whiskey as offering “aromas of vanilla, map

Modi Illva is diversifying its portfolio by launching flavored vodkas and premium Indian spirits to capture growing demand for high-end domestic liquor. The company has committed ₹200 crore over five years toward expansion and product development. This strategy aims to shift reliance away from its primary Rockford whisky brand and compete with imported spirits in a changing Indian market. Modi Illva, an established name in the Indian spirits market, is shifting its business strategy by moving beyond its core whisky franchise. The company, best known for its Rockford whisky brand which drives the bulk of its 3.2 million annual case sales, is now introducing a range of flavored vodkas under its Artic brand. This initiative includes new flavors such as jamun, green apple, and berry, targeting a consumer base that is increasingly seeking variety and softer taste profiles in their beverages. Targeting Premiumization Trends The pivot toward white spirits and super-premium Indian alcohol reflects a broader trend in the industry where consumers are willing to pay more for locally produced products that match the quality of international brands. By developing these premium offerings, Modi Illva aims to provide consumers with high-quality alternatives that avoid the steep price tags often associated with imported Scotch. To support this objective, the company has earmarked an investment of ₹200 crore over a five-year period. This capital is allocated toward research and development, enhanced marketing efforts, and a new manufacturing facility that is scheduled to begin production next month. Market Dynamics and Competitive Pressure This expansion comes at a time when the Indian alcohol sector is preparing for potential changes in trade policy, including the possibility of reduced import duties on Scotch whisky under the proposed India-UK free trade agreement. Such a policy change would likely increase competition from established international labels. While this represents a challenge, company management notes that the focus on domestic premiumization may help Indian brands become more competitive globally. Furthermore, the company is addressing specific operational realities, such as the impact of the Indian climate on maturation processes, which necessitates different production approaches compared to traditional Scotch whisky makers. Investors may monitor how this diversification affects the company’s profit margins, particularly as it balances the costs of high-decibel marketing and new facility operations against the need to gain market share in the premium segment. The success of this strategy will depend on consumer adoption rates of the new flavored vodka lines and the company's ability to maintain brand loyalty as it pivots away from its traditional whisky-dominant portfolio. Monitoring the commissioning and initial production capacity of the new facility will be a key indicator of the company's execution progress in the coming quarters.

英印貿易協議生效:英國車價下降,蘇格蘭威士忌降價受延遲

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:India-UK Trade Deal: British Cars Become More Affordable While Scotch Whisky Faces Delays - Observer Voice

India-UK Trade Deal: British Cars Become More Affordable While Scotch Whisky Faces Delays British car manufacturers, including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and McLaren, have announced significant price reductions following the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on Wednesday. While luxury vehicles are seeing immediate price cuts, consumers will have to wait for reductions on imported spirits, as the necessary filings and clearances from state excise departments are expected to take at least a month. Price Cuts on Imported Whisky Delayed Imported blended whisky prices are projected to decrease by Rs 350-400 per bottle, while Indian-made blended whisky may see a reduction of Rs 50-60 per bottle. However, this depends on whether companies choose to pass on the benefits to consumers or retain the savings to enhance their margins. Approximately 80% of India’s whisky imports from the UK are utilized for blending with locally produced whisky. Sanjit Padhi, CEO of The International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI), emphasized that the full benefits of the India-UK FTA will only materialize if tariff reductions are passed on to consumers without being negated by additional state taxes or regulatory measures. Companies must file declarations of origin to confirm that their stock is sourced from the UK, and the process for revised pricing with state excise authorities may take 15 to 30 days. Alcohol Taxation and Pricing Challenges Alcohol remains one of the most heavily taxed commodities in India, with tariffs reaching 150%. Under the CETA, tariffs for Scotch and Gin will be halved, eventually decreasing to 40% over a decade. Local taxes further complicate the pricing landscape. In Maharashtra, for instance, taxes account for 60-61% of the maximum retail price (MRP) for imported whisky, while Indian single malts face a 56% tax burden. ISWAI’s analysis indicates that the tariff rationalization could lead to a limited price reduction of around 12-13%, provided the benefits are passed on to consumers. Anant S Iyer, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies, noted that pricing decisions will ultimately rest with individual companies, as state regulations heavily influence supply and consumer prices. Car Manufacturers Quickly Adjust Prices In contrast to the liquor industry, car manufacturers have swiftly adjusted their pricing strategies. JLR India was among the first to announce price cuts on select UK-built Range Rover models, reducing the price of the Range Rover SV by Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore and the Range Rover Sport SV by Rs 40 lakh to Rs 2.4 crore. These adjustments were made in anticipation of lower import duties under the FTA. The price reductions are exclusive to vehicles imported from the UK, as models like the Defender and Discovery, produced at JLR’s Slovakia plant, do not qualify for the tariff concessions. McLaren is also reportedly planning to revise its pricing strategy in India, with estimates suggesting potential price cuts of nearly 38% across its portfolio. While the agreement promises to make several premium British products more affordable for Indian consumers over time, it also opens up significant opportunities for Indian exporters by offering duty-free access to nearly the entire UK market. However, not every price cut will be visible overnight. While tariffs have begun to reduce, factors such as phased implementation, import quotas and state-level taxes mean consumers may have to wait before seeing lower prices on store shelves. British Cars Could Become Significantly Cheaper One of the biggest highlights of the India-UK FTA is the reduction in import duties on fully built British passenger vehicles. For eligible vehicles imported under a quota system, tariffs will gradually fall from 110% to as low as 10% over the implementation period. As a result, some luxury models could become ₹1 crore to ₹3 crore cheaper, depending on the brand, model and stage of tariff reduction. Brands expected to benefit include: - Jaguar - Land Rover - Rolls-Royce - Aston Martin - Bentley - McLaren - MINI Scotch Whisky Gets A Major Tariff Cut Scotch whisky is among the headline beneficiaries of the agreement. Currently, imported Scotch attracts a 150% import duty. Under the FTA, this will be reduced to 75% initially, followed by a gradual reduction to 40% over the next 10 years. That said, whisky lovers may not notice lower prices immediately. Retail prices will also depend on state excise duties, approvals and pricing revisions, meaning cheaper bottles could take several weeks-or even longer-to reach the market. British Gin Will Also Cost Less Over Time Like Scotch whisky, imported British gin will see its import duty reduced from 150% to 75% in the first phase, eventually reaching 40% over the next decade. Premium Chocolates, Cosmetics And Fashion To Become More Affordable Several premium British consumer goods are also expected to become more accessible for Indian buyers as tariffs are lowered. These include: - Premium British chocolates - Cosmetics and beauty products - Personal care items - Premium clothing and fashion products The extent of the price reduction will vary depending on the product category, importer and retailer. Selected Electronics And Consumer Goods Included The agreement also covers certain UK-made electronics and premium consumer products. While tariffs will be reduced in phases, the final retail price will depend on importer margins, logistics costs and market demand. It's Not Just About Cheaper Imports-India Gains Too The India-UK trade deal is a two-way agreement. Alongside lower tariffs on British goods entering India, Indian exporters now enjoy duty-free access to nearly 99% of UK tariff lines, creating fresh opportunities across multiple industries. Key sectors expected to benefit include: - Textiles and garments - Leather and footwear - Gems and jewellery - Engineering goods - Marine products - Processed food - Tea, coffee and spices - Pharmaceuticals - Auto components This enhanced market access is expected to boost exports, improve competitiveness and support employment across several sectors. Additional Benefits Under The Agreement Beyond trade in goods, the agreement also introduces benefits for professionals and businesses. Indian professionals on temporary assignments in the UK will benefit from the Double Contribution Convention (DCC), allowing them to avoid paying social security contributions in both countries for a specified period. The FTA also strengthens cooperation in areas such as: - Services - Investment - Government procurement What This Means For Consumers And Businesses The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement is expected to reshape trade between the two countries over the coming years. While consumers can look forward to gradually lower prices on products such as luxury cars, Scotch whisky, chocolates and cosmetics, Indian businesses stand to gain through wider access to one of the world's largest developed markets. Although many of the tariff reductions will be implemented in phases, the agreement signals a long-term boost for trade, investment and economic cooperation between India and the United Kingdom.

Jaipur, July 2026: Black Dog Whisky, one of India’s most iconic blended Scotch whisky brands, unveiled a refined new packaging that marks a confident evolution of a legacy spanning over 140 years. More than a visual refresh, the new design reflects a deeper expression of the brand’s character inviting consumers to slow down and savour every sip. Founded in 1883, Black Dog’s story begins with its founder, Sir Walter Millard, who believed in a simple philosophy: true mastery comes from being fully present and letting time reveal its magic to create something truly extraordinary. From these Scottish origins, Black Dog has travelled far into the hearts of millions of discerning consumers in India becoming a whisky associated with milestones, meaningful moments, and quiet confidence. The refreshed design introduces subtle ‘savour codes’ with refined detailing, premium cues, and a cleaner visual language, crafted to resonate with a younger, evolving audience while remaining unmistakably Black Dog. At the heart of this evolution is the brand’s renewed expression, ‘Savour the Sip’—an invitation to experience Scotch as a deliberate, immersive ritual. Masterfully blended from select distilleries across Scotland, including the celebrated Linkwood Distillery where skilled distillers perfect every drop, the blend reflects a delicate three-cask maturation process that celebrates craftsmanship and nuanced flavour. Strengthening a sharper premium architecture, the refreshed Black Dog Whisky portfolio features two distinct variants, each offering a unique tasting experience: - Black Dog Black Reserve – A rich, rounded Scotch whisky crafted from select Scottish malts, delivering malty depth with subtle oak and sherry sweetness for a balanced finish - Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve – A luxurious, triple cask matured Scotch whisky aged in Scotland, offering smooth, layered notes of oak, toffee, and vanilla with a warm, lingering finish Commenting on the evolution, Varun Koorichh, Vice President – Marketing & Portfolio Head, Diageo India, said, “Black Dog carries a Scotch legacy that goes back generations, crafted with a quiet confidence that never needs to shout. A blend shaped by some of the Scotland’s finest distilleries, including Linkwood, it’s a whisky that rewards the drinker who takes a moment to truly notice it. As today’s consumers evolve seeking more meaning, more craft, and more intentional moments we wanted Black Dog to feel as relevant as it has always been. This refreshed packaging is our way of honouring the heritage while inviting a new generation to make it their own, so every sip becomes a moment worth savouring.” About Diageo India Diageo India is among India’s leading beverage alcohol (alcobev) companies with an outstanding portfolio of premium brands. 印度威士忌媒體 Esquire India 推薦7款在零售通路可買到、售價約2-3萬盧比(約台幣800-1,200元)的優質威士忌。包括 Johnnie Walker Blue Label、Glenfiddich 18 Year Old、Glenlivet 18 Year Old、Talisker 18 Year Old、Dalmore 15 Year Old、Highland Park 18 Year Old 與 Singleton 18 Year Old。這些酒款涵蓋調和式與單一麥芽威士忌,適合不同風味偏好的飲者在雨季享用。

AI generated summary, newsroom reviewed Monsoon evenings make people want a good drink at home, and a glass of whisky fits the mood perfectly. The catch is that many premium bottles are locked away in duty-free stores, out of reach for most buyers. This list is different. From Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Glenfiddich 18 Year Old, Glenlivet 18 Year Old to Talisker 18 Year Old, these are seven well-aged whiskies you can find at a good retail shop near you, all priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000. Here is a closer look at each one. Johnnie Walker Blue Label remains one of the most widely available premium blends in Indian retail, and its reputation is well earned. Made from a selection of rare, carefully sourced whiskies, it opens with hazelnut, honey and orange before settling into darker notes of dark chocolate, ginger and sandalwood, finishing long and gently smoky. It is often the first bottle people reach for when they want something premium without stepping into single malt territory. Type: Blended Scotch Approximate price: Rs 24,000 to Rs 28,000 (varies significantly by state) Speyside's most recognisable name offers this expression as one of its flagship age statements, and it shows up reliably at premium retail counters. Matured in a mix of American and European oak, it has a rounded, elegant profile built around dried fruit, toffee apple and a soft spiciness, finishing with a hint of orange peel. It is a whisky that manages to feel indulgent without being showy. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 21,000 to Rs 25,000 Glenfiddich's 18 year old sits comfortably in most premium retail chains and has become something of a benchmark for what an accessible aged single malt should taste like. Matured in a combination of Spanish sherry oak and American bourbon casks, it delivers baked apple, cinnamon, ginger and a gentle oakiness, making it an easy recommendation for someone stepping up from entry level Scotch. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 20,000 to Rs 23,000 For drinkers who want something with a bit more character, Talisker's coastal, peppery style is hard to miss. Distilled on the Isle of Skye, this 18 year old combines maritime smoke with dark fruit and toffee sweetness, delivering the distillery's trademark peppery finish that lingers well after the glass is empty. It is a strong option for anyone whose taste runs slightly bolder. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 22,000 to Rs 26,000 Dalmore has built a reputation around rich, sherry-driven whiskies, and this 15 year old is a fairly accessible entry into that world. Matured across a mix of Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso sherry casks after its initial bourbon maturation, it carries notes of dark chocolate, orange marmalade and warm spice, with a noticeably smooth, full bodied character. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 23,000 to Rs 27,000 From the Orkney Islands comes this well regarded expression, known for balancing gentle smoke with honeyed sweetness. Matured in a mix of sherry seasoned American and European oak, it offers heather, dried fruit and a wisp of peat smoke, finishing on a warm, slightly spiced note. It has built a loyal following among drinkers who want smoke without the intensity of an Islay malt. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 25,000 to Rs 29,000 Known for being an approachable, food friendly single malt, the Singleton's 18 year old expression leans into rich fruit and spice rather than smoke. Matured in a combination of American and European oak, it brings forward dried fruit, toffee and a touch of nutmeg, closing with a smooth, mellow finish that makes it easy to drink through an evening. Type: Single Malt Scotch Approximate price: Rs 21,000 to Rs 24,000 Note: Whisky prices are approximate and may vary by state, city, taxes and store availability. Please check with your nearest premium liquor retailer before purchasing.

印度-英國自由貿易協定生效:威士忌降稅但降價有限,豪車先受惠

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:India-UK trade deal: Luxury cars get cheaper, but your Scotch will have to wait - The Economic Times

Listen to this article in summarized format CETA was signed in London on 24 July 2025 and came into force on July 15, 2026, becoming the sixth free trade agreement implemented by the Narendra Modi government, following pacts with Mauritius, UAE, Australia, EFTA, and Oman. Also read: India-UK FTA: Rolls-Royce, Range Rover cars to get cheaper by crores in India The agreement covers 30 chapters spanning trade in goods and services, digital trade, government procurement, MSMEs, innovation, labour, environment and gender, and is expected to unlock duty-free access for nearly 99% of Indian exports. The deal lowers tariffs across premium drinks including cider, mead, sake, brandy, bourbon, rum, gin, vodka, liqueurs and tequila, with the standard 150% duty falling to 110% in Year 1 and eventually to 75% by Year 10 for qualifying products, subject to a minimum import price. For Scotch specifically, India's tariff will fall from 150% to 75% initially and then to 40% by year ten. Bilateral goods trade between India and the UK reached $25.12 billion in FY26, with $11.68 billion in imports and $13.44 billion in exports from India. Cars move first, spirits lag JLR and McLaren have announced price reductions on their UK-built models under the pact, TOI reported. JLR India had already cut prices on select UK-built Range Rover models in anticipation of the deal, the Range Rover SV became cheaper by Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore, and the Range Rover Sport SV dropped by Rs 40 lakh to Rs 2.4 crore. The cuts apply only to vehicles imported from the UK, so the Defender and Discovery, both built at JLR's Slovakia plant, remain unaffected. McLaren is reportedly considering price cuts of nearly 38% across its India portfolio, the report said. Also read: India-UK FTA comes into effect today, unlocking duty-free access for Indian exports Scotch and gin buyers, however, will have to wait. TOI reported that imported blended whisky priced around Rs 3,000 a bottle is likely to see cuts of only Rs 350-400, while Indian-made blended whisky (IMFL) may see reductions of just Rs 50-60 a bottle, if companies choose to pass on the benefit at all. Nearly 80% of India's whisky imports from the UK are used for blending with locally made whisky, per the report. Companies will need to file a declaration of origin confirming their stock qualifies as UK-origin, and revised cost filings will have to go to state excise departments, a process TOI reported could take 15 to 30 days. Why the gap? Alcohol remains among India's most heavily taxed commodities. According to TOI, current tariffs of 150% will be halved for Scotch and gin under the deal before tapering to 40% over a decade, on top of existing state levies. Industry body ISWAI estimated that taxes account for 60-61% of MRP for imported whisky in states like Maharashtra, and 56% for Indian single malts, the report said. The association projected overall price reduction under the FTA at around 12-13%, provided the benefits are passed on to consumers. Also read: Whisky, cars and more: What gets cheaper as India-UK FTA kicks in ISWAI CEO Sanjit Padhi was quoted by TOI as saying the full benefits of the FTA would depend on whether tariff cuts reach consumers without being offset by state-level taxes or regulatory curbs. Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies director general Anant S Iyer told TOI that pricing decisions ultimately rest with individual companies, since states control both supply and consumer pricing.

There is a common assumption about peated whisky, which is that it belongs to cold weather. Rain on the windows, a fire burning, a heavy glass in your hand. The image is appealing, and it has shaped how a lot of people think about smoky Scotch, but it is not the whole story. Smoke works with citrus, it works with salt, and it works with cold, and Johnnie Walker Double Black is a good bottle for testing that idea. Especially because we are currently experiencing yet another heatwave here in the UK. So the question is not whether Double Black works in July, but how you serve it when it is warm out and you still want the smoke. What Is Johnnie Walker Double Black? Johnnie Walker Double Black is a blended Scotch that takes the character of the original Black Label and pushes the smoke further. It launched in 2011, aimed at drinkers who like peat but do not want the full intensity of an Islay single malt. The blend draws on West Coast and Islay whiskies, matured in heavily charred oak casks. The result is sweet smoke, dried fruit, clove, and toasted oak, held in reasonable balance. It costs a little more than Black Label and delivers noticeably more presence. Neat, Water, or Ice? Start neat, at least for the first pour. Double Black opens with smoke, carries spice through the middle, and finishes on charred oak, and drinking it without anything added tells you what you are working with before you start adjusting. A splash of water softens the alcohol and opens up the nose. Citrus, vanilla, and gentler wood notes come forward, and the smoke settles into the background rather than leading. It is a small change with a noticeable effect, and it is worth doing a few drops at a time rather than all at once. Ice is where people get nervous. Laphroaig recommends serving its peated whisky at around 15 to 20°C, on the basis that if it is too cold, the aromas mute, and too warm means the alcohol might overpower the palate. Cold does cost you some aroma, but what you get in return is refreshment, and on a hot afternoon that is a reasonable trade. As the ice melts, the whisky opens up and the sweeter notes come through, so the drink changes over time. Additionally, Johnnie Walker Double Black also contains unpeated malts and grains, giving the drink an extra layer of sweetness and fruit. In my experience, it works better with the cold than a more heavily peated whisky. The Summer Serves Highball – Johnnie Walker recommends serving Double Black with soda water and a wedge of lime, and it is the serve to start with. Chill everything first, the glass and the soda in particular. Fill a tall glass with ice, pour one part whisky to three parts soda, and stir gently so you do not knock the bubbles out. Squeeze the lime over the top before dropping it in. The carbonation lifts the smoke, and the lime gives it something sharp to sit against. Iced black tea with lemon – Brew the tea strong and chill it thoroughly, then build over ice with a measure of Double Black and a squeeze of lemon. Tea tannin and whisky smoke have a good deal in common, and the two sit together comfortably. It is a longer, softer drink than the highball, and it suits an afternoon rather than an evening. Cola with grapefruit – Scotch and cola is a familiar combination, and Double Black takes it well. Use grapefruit rather than orange if you have the choice, since the bitterness stands up to the sweetness of the cola better than orange does. This is the least serious drink on the list and none the worse for it. Smoky Old Fashioned – For the evening, stir Double Black with sugar and bitters over a large cube. The char and spice in the whisky come forward, and the drink turns darker and heavier than a bourbon version. A Manhattan made with sweet vermouth and orange bitters works on the same principle. What to Eat With It Double Black goes well with grilled meat. Grilled lamb, seared steak, tandoori chicken, and kebabs all sit well with it, since the char on the meat and the peat in the whisky are drawing on the same thing. Spice in a marinade picks up the clove and pepper in the blend. Cheese is a reliable pairing. Aged cheddar or a mature gouda has enough salt and richness to stand up to the smoke without being flattened by it. For something sweeter, try dark chocolate. The smoke reads as roasted rather than ashy alongside cocoa, and the dried fruit in the whisky’s finish becomes easier to pick out. Double Black vs Black Label The question worth answering is when to reach for one over the other. Black Label is the everyday bottle, balanced and unchallenging, and it works in almost any context without asking much of you. Double Black is smokier and heavier, and it wants a bit more attention. If you are pouring for a group with mixed tastes, Black Label is the safer choice. If you want something with more character, or you are drinking with grilled food, or you are curious about peat but not ready for Laphroaig, Double Black is a great choice. It is also the one to hand to someone who thinks they dislike smoky whisky, since it makes the case gently. Final Thoughts Double Black rewards experimenting. Drink it neat, then put it in a highball, then try it alongside something off the grill, and see which version you keep coming back to. None of those approaches is more correct than the others, and the whisky is affordable enough that you can work through all of them without worrying about depleting your supply. So how will you drink your next dram of Double Black? Share your favorite serves in the comments below.

Berry Bros. & Rudd has launched its 2026 Odyssey collection, titled The Auld and the Bold, comprising 20 single-cask whiskies, rums and a Cognac drawn from 20 distilleries. The bottlings will be available from July 16, 2026, exclusively at the merchant’s spirits shop at No. 1 St James’s Street, London. The collection continues the Odyssey series, which the company first launched in 2024. Each annual release brings together single-cask spirits connected by a shared influence to form an “Odyssey.” The 2026 edition explores the relationship between Scotland’s whisky traditions and a new generation of distillers working around the world. “For this year’s Odyssey collection, we wanted to explore the relationship between heritage and innovation,” said Felix Dear, spirits curator at Berry Bros. & Rudd. “Scotch whisky remains the benchmark that has inspired generations of distillers, but some of the most exciting spirits being made today are emerging from places far beyond Scotland.” Dear added: “The Auld and the Bold brings these worlds together, showcasing both the timeless qualities that define great whisky and the fresh perspectives that continue to push the category forward. Whether the spirit comes from Speyside, Tasmania, Yorkshire or New Zealand, what unites these bottlings is a commitment to character, craftsmanship and a strong sense of place.” The Scottish component spans a range of styles. It includes the Glenlossie 1975, priced at £1,500, described as “a style of whisky that has grown increasingly elusive over time.” Other Scottish bottlings feature Glencadam, Blair Athol finished in a Viognier cask, Longmorn, Glen Garioch and Tamdhu. Peated expressions come from Caol Ila, Williamson and Ruadh Mhor. Beyond Scotland, the release highlights distilleries influenced by Scotch tradition but shaped by local conditions. Australia’s Lark 2016 (£270) is matured in an Australian Tawny Port cask, while India’s Paul John 2015 (£195) combines Scottish-sourced peat with Indian-grown barley and tropical maturation. New Zealand’s Thomson 2017 (£135) uses malt smoked over Manuka wood. England’s Spirit of Yorkshire 2017 (£125) was pot-distilled and aged for nine years near the North Sea at Filey Bay. Denmark’s Thy 2016 (£165) and Finland’s Teerenpeli 2014 (£130) complete the international whisky selection. Three Caribbean rums also feature. The line-up includes Barbados producer Foursquare 2011 (£110), Guyana’s Diamond 2003 (£135), and Caroni 1997 (£495), from the now-closed Trinidadian distillery. Rounding out the collection is a 35-year-old early-landed Frapin 1990 Cognac (£195), distilled in France and matured in the UK at natural cask strength. According to the official notes from the brand, the Glenlossie 1975 opens “on candle wax and beeswax polish, lifted by light florals,” with a finish that fades “through candied ginger into gently toasted malt.” The brand describes the Caroni 1997 as “tar-soaked and swaggering,” with “waves of demerara sugar and scorched mango.” Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant, having traded from its St James’s Street premises since 1698. The family-owned firm holds two royal warrants and operates its own spirits program alongside its wine business. Further details are available via the Berry Bros. & Rudd website.

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Isle of Raasay Appoints GHF for UK Distribution Push - The Whiskey Wash

Isle of Raasay Distillery, the Hebridean single malt Scotch whisky brand, has appointed GHF as its distribution and brand development partner across the UK on-trade and off-trade. The agreement, announced in July 2026, also covers Feragaia 0.0%, the Scottish non-alcoholic spirit acquired by R&B Distillers in November 2025. The appointment spans independent retail and premium grocers, alongside on-trade and off-trade channels. Under the deal, GHF will partner with R&B Distillers on sales, distribution and trade marketing for both brands. The agency will deliver against objectives covering distribution, account management and in-venue product promotion. The move marks the next phase of growth for Raasay and Feragaia. Both brands aim to double the revenue of their UK business in the near term. The focus will be on building presence beyond Scotland, where the brands already hold a strong following. R&B is targeting prestigious positioning in iconic outlets across London and the South of England. William Dobbie, managing director of R&B Distillers, said: "As we look to increase our distribution and brand awareness beyond Scotland, where we have built a solid foundation, GHF’s relationships across the most influential venues and retailers in the UK make them the right partner for this next chapter." Tristram Coates, founder and CEO of GHF, said: "Raasay is one of the most compelling stories in Scotch whisky, a true island single malt with genuine provenance and a quality of liquid that stands up in any company. Feragaia is equally distinctive, offering a genuinely grown-up, uncompromising approach to the non-alcoholic category." Coates continued: "London’s most iconic outlets are where reputations are made, and that is exactly where this portfolio belongs." R&B Distillers was founded by Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day in 2014. The company built its distillery on the Isle of Raasay, transforming the island’s historic Borodale House. The distillery now employs more than 30 people on an island community of just 161 residents. 印度英國自由貿易協定生效 英製汽車降價但蘇格蘭威士忌降價得等待

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:India-UK trade deal: British cars get cheaper but Scotch has to wait - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: British car majors, including JLR and McLaren, have announced steep reductions in prices as the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) kicked on Wednesday. But your bottle of Scotch and Gin, as well as blended India-made whisky, will take time to get cheaper, with the filing and clearances from state excise departments expected to take at least a month. In any case the price cuts will be Rs 350-400 a bottle in case of imported blended whisky that costs around Rs 3,000, while for Indian-made blended whisky, known as IMFL in trade parlance, reduction may be by Rs 50-60 a bottle, unless companies decide to pocket the benefit and improve their margins. Close to 80% of the India's whisky imports from the UK are used for blending locally-produced whisky. For Liquor, Filing & Clearances From State Excise Depts Likely To Take At Least A Mth "Full benefits of India-UK FTA will be realised only if tariff rationalisation is passed onto the consumer and is not offset by additional state taxation or restrictive regulatory measures," said Sanjit Padhi, CEO of The International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI), which largely represents the interests of international players. Tariff applicability will be based on documentation, with companies required to file their declaration of origin to specify that the stock they have received is from the UK. For goods that leave Scotland's shores on Wednesday, the benefit will automatically be available. Each company will also be required to file the revised cost and other details with the state excise authorities. And, this process may take anywhere from 15 to 30 days. And, don't trust the states either, which may just decide to increase local levies. Alcohol is among the most taxed commodities in India, with govt imposing 150% tariffs, which will be halved under the UK CETA for Scotch and Gin, and then slide to 40% over 10 years. On top of that there is local taxes. According to ISWAI's calculations, for bottled-in-origin or imported whisky, taxes make up 60-61% of MRP in a state like Maharashtra, while it is 56% for Indian single malts. "...the tariff rationalisation (due to the FTA) is expected to result in a limited price reduction of around 12-13%, provided the benefits are passed on to consumers," the industry body said. "It is for the individual companies to decide on whether prices will be reduced given the duty cut and benefit passed onto consumers. Pricing is a very complex mechanism as States control supply and consumer prices," said Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies DG Anant S Iyer. Car companies have, however, gone ahead and passed on the gains from the trade deal. Some British luxury carmakers had already moved to pass on the expected duty benefits to customers. JLR India was the first to announce price cuts on select UK-built Range Rover models. In May, the company reduced price of UK-built Range Rover SV by Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore, while the Range Rover Sport SV became Rs 40 lakh cheaper at Rs 2.4 crore. JLR said the revisions were made in anticipation of the lower import duties under the FTA and were aimed at passing on part of the expected savings to customers. The price cuts are limited to vehicles imported from the UK. Defender and Discovery remain unaffected as both models are manufactured at JLR's Slovakia plant and therefore do not qualify for the tariff concessions. McLaren is reportedly looking to significantly rework its India pricing. Industry estimates suggest the British supercar maker could cut prices across its portfolio by nearly 38%.

Bunnahabhain has brought An Cuan Garbh No.1 to the United States, a limited-edition 15-year-old single malt Scotch whisky finished in White Port casks. The release marks the second chapter in the Islay distillery’s three-part Westering Home Collection and is available this month at select US retailers. An Cuan Garbh No.1, which translates as “The Rough Sea,” follows Turas Math No.1, the collection’s debut expression. The series is designed as a three-year progression exploring different stages of the journey around Islay. Where the first release focused on movement and anticipation, this chapter shifts attention to the sea crossing itself. The whisky matured for 15 years in traditional oak before a finishing period in White Port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley. According to the official notes from the brand, the White Port influence adds ripe orchard fruit, peach and apricot to the distillery’s coastal character. It is balanced by candied citrus, honeyed almonds, toasted malt and gentle spice. Bottled at 51.6% ABV, the expression carries an MSRP of $204.99 for a 700ml bottle. Master Blender Julieann Fernandez oversees the Westering Home Collection, guiding each annual release across the three-year arc. “Each release in the Westering Home Collection captures a different stage of the journey across and around Islay,” said Fernandez. “With An Cuan Garbh No.1, we focused on contrast and movement, the unpredictability of the sea against the steady evolution of maturation,” she added. “The White Port casks add fruit and softness, while the whisky remains grounded in Bunnahabhain’s coastal style.” The distillery said the whisky was shaped by sea air and slow maturation in warehouses overlooking Bunnahabhain Bay, lending it subtle maritime salinity. Bunnahabhain sits on the northeast coast of Islay and is known for its predominantly unpeated style, setting it apart from many of the island’s other producers. The distillery is owned by Distell, part of Heineken. According to the official notes from the brand, the whisky presents a golden amber color, a nose of honeysuckle, elderflower and orchard fruit, and a long, warming finish with fruit sweetness and maritime salinity. A limited number of bottles will be available in the US this month.

印度-英國貿易協議生效 蘇格蘭威士忌價格可望下降7-10%

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:India-UK trade deal could cut Scotch whisky prices by up to 10% - Moneycontrol.com

Liked this AI Summary? The next bottle of your favourite Scotch whisky could cost less, with the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) now in force reducing import duties on British spirits. Popular Scotch whisky brands such as The Macallan, Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie could become 7-10 percent cheaper at retail counters, according to industry executives and market estimates. "We expect consumer prices of bottled-in-origin (BIO) products to decline by around 7-8 percent," said Abhishek Khaitan, Managing Director, Radico Khaitan. According to retailers in Gurugram, a Macallan 12-Year Double Cask, currently priced at Rs 8,200, could fall to Rs 7,620-Rs 7,380 if the full benefit of the duty reduction is passed on to consumers. Similarly, Glenfiddich 18-Year whisky, retailing at around Rs 9,700, could be priced between Rs 9,020 and Rs 8,730, while the Glenfiddich 23-Year, currently selling at Rs 45,000, could fall to Rs 41,850-Rs 40,500. The Glenmorangie Signet, currently priced at Rs 22,000 in Gurugram, could retail at Rs 20,460-Rs 19,800. Alcohol pricing in India remains subject to state excise policies. Gurugram accounts for a significant share of liquor sales in the Delhi-NCR region due to relatively lower taxes. Haryana levies 3 percent VAT and a 5 percent surcharge on bottled-in-origin imported spirits. Under the India-UK FTA, customs duties on whisky and gin imported from the UK have been reduced from 150 percent to 75 percent immediately and will gradually decline to 40 percent over the next decade. “Premium products will see a bigger price impact as the delta of change is larger on a bigger MRP. Meanwhile, for the broader market, price reductions will make certain products more accessible, allowing people to consume better quality products at a lower price,” said Nikhil Agarwal, founder, All Things Nice, a luxury marketing, consulting, and events firm with a focus on the wines and spirits sector. However, the final reduction in retail prices will depend on whether importers choose to pass on the entire duty benefit. “The ultimate impact on end retail price will also depend on the rupee and pound exchange rate. Freight charges have risen dramatically since the West Asia war broke out, and whether importers want to spend more on marketing,” Agarwal further said. “I believe new brands entering India will pass on the benefits to the consumer,” he added. According to the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC), it is imperative for states to reconsider excise duties on imported liquor even as individual companies decide on whether prices will be reduced given the duty cut and benefit passed onto consumers. “We hope that with customs duty on imported spirits getting reduced, certain State governments such as Haryana, Delhi, Assam, Odisha, Maharashtra, MP and Kerala, will end policy distortions that currently favour BIO imported products over comparable Indian-made products. State governments need to ensure competitive neutrality between domestically produced IMFL, bottled-in-India products and BIO (bottled-in-origin) imports operating in the same segments,” it said. 印度英國貿易協議生效 蘇格蘭威士忌進口稅大幅下調

Google News(Scotch/Distillery)|原題:Luxury Cars, Scotch among UK goods set to get cheaper under India-UK trade deal - ET BrandEquity

- Business of Brands - 2 min read Luxury Cars, Scotch among UK goods set to get cheaper under India-UK trade deal The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), is expected to make a wide range of products cheaper for consumers in both countries by reducing or eliminating customs duties, while a limited set of imported goods may continue to remain expensive or see little change due to tariff exclusions and phased implementation. Highlights - Premium Scotch whisky import duties cut from 150 per cent to 40 per cent over a decade. - Indian exporters gain duty-free access, enhancing competitiveness in UK market. - Tariff reductions phased, some products will remain expensive for consumers. The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), is expected to make a wide range of products cheaper for consumers in both countries by reducing or eliminating customs duties, while a limited set of imported goods may continue to remain expensive or see little change due to tariff exclusions and phased implementation. The agreement, implemented from Wednesday, aims to boost bilateral trade between India and the United Kingdom by improving market access across goods and services. Under the pact, India will reduce tariffs on a large number of British products over a phased period, while the UK will eliminate tariffs on almost all Indian exports. Among the products that are expected to become cheaper in India are premium Scotch whisky and gin, as import duties on these products will be reduced in phases. The tariff on whisky, currently 150 per cent, will be brought down to 75 per cent initially and further reduced to 40 per cent over the next decade, making imported British spirits more affordable. Luxury automobiles manufactured in the UK are also expected to become less expensive. Import duties on a specified quota of British cars are set to decline gradually, potentially lowering prices of brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Bentley, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce. Consumers may also benefit from lower prices on select British food and beverage products, including chocolates, biscuits, salmon, lamb, soft drinks and speciality packaged foods, as customs duties are eased under the agreement. Certain cosmetics, medical devices and industrial machinery imported from the UK could also become more competitively priced over time. On the export front, Indian products are expected to gain significantly from duty-free access to the UK market. Labour-intensive sectors such as textiles and garments, footwear, leather products, gems and jewellery, marine products, engineering goods, auto components, organic chemicals and processed food are likely to become more competitive, improving export opportunities for Indian manufacturers. The agreement could also encourage greater investment and strengthen supply chain integration between the two economies. However, not every imported British product will become cheaper immediately. Several sensitive agricultural products, dairy items and other protected sectors have been kept outside the tariff reduction commitments or are subject to safeguards, meaning prices for these products are unlikely to witness significant changes. Similarly, for products where tariff reductions are phased over several years or linked to import quotas, any decline in retail prices is expected to be gradual rather than immediate. Final consumer prices will also depend on factors such as freight costs, exchange rate movements, domestic taxes and retailer pricing strategies. While cheaper imports may benefit consumers, the broader objective of the agreement is to expand two-way trade, create employment through higher exports and attract greater investment. The long-term impact on prices will depend on the pace of tariff implementation and the extent to which businesses pass on the benefits of lower import duties to consumers. As the self-appointed budget whisky botherer on YouTube, I have made a home for myself in the wallet-friendly corner of this hobby. But let me be clear about something: budget is not a bad word, and neither is blend. For too long, both have been treated like dirty terms in our single malt-obsessed era. Yet budget blends are quietly making a comeback, and they are more enthusiast-friendly than ever. Today I want to talk about one of the most requested bottles on my channel, one that I genuinely believe offers some of the greatest bang for your buck out there: Symington’s 10 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky. The specs alone tell a compelling story. This is a 10-year-old age statement bottled at 46% ABV, fully natural, with no chill filtration and no artificial colour. Andrew, the man behind Signatory Vintage and Edradour, reportedly took on a blend reluctantly, and the result is something rather magical. It boasts a 50% malt content, which is far higher than most blends, featuring Edradour PX cask and Ben Nevis, with North British grain matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. Reassuringly, they appear to have enough stock to keep this recipe going for years, so I expect it to become a shelf staple. It certainly has a permanent place on mine. On the nose, it delivers time after time. Think warm soft toffee, melting Ferrero Rocher, black currants and all the fruits of spring and summer, with apple pie, vanilla ice cream and a touch of Christmas cake. It smells festive, yet it works all year round. On the palate it turns wonderfully funky. My mind went straight to Springbank 15, with cola cubes, orange marmalade and a lovely white chocolate grain note. It is a bit meaty, a bit medieval in the best possible way, and the finish is warming, balanced and, dare I say it, damn smooth. This whisky genuinely excites me. It sits in the same price bracket as some supermarket blends, yet carries the premium specs us nerds adore. For fans of Dalmore or Macallan, save yourself the money. I would happily buy this even if it were 20% more expensive. It is, quite simply, a symbol of hope for those of us who love good whisky without the punishing price tag. We are in a golden period, and it is finally coming back our way. Signup now to make sure you don't miss out on the latest whiskey news and deals. 愛爾蘭威士忌將在機場免稅店超越蘇格蘭威士忌

The Spirits Business|原題:Irish whiskey to outpace Scotch in travel retail

SMWS母公司上半年收益持平 散裝桶銷售疲軟

The Spirits Business|原題:SMWS owner suffers cask sales lag

SMWS owner suffers cask sales lag The Artisanal Spirits Company (ASC) has indicated that revenue was flat in the first half of 2026 (H1), as growth from its brands was offset by lower trade cask sales. The update relates to the six months ending 30 June 2026. The group said revenue from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS), Single Cask Nation (SCN), JG Thomson and Artisan Casks collectively increased by ‘high single digits’ when compared with H1 2025. ASC said this growth was driven primarily by SCN and Artisan Casks, which launched in summer 2025. The group attributed its lower trade cask sales to ‘phasing’, adding that it predicts its full-year results to be more heavily weighted to H2. Sales completed in H1 carried a lower margin, reflecting the ‘profile of stock sold and softer cask-market conditions’. A similar margin profile is expected for H2. Group earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was maintained year on year, with ‘improved’ branded business performance and efficient cost control offsetting a lower trade cask contribution. Net cash flow improved by around £1.5 million (US$2m) versus H1 2025. This was driven by revenue growth and cost control in the branded businesses. Lower spending on spirit and wood investment helped to offset weaker income from trade cask activity. SMWS Total SMWS sales grew ‘marginally’, with bottle sales in the US up by 10%. Australia also experienced ‘double-digit’ growth. UK venues, UK online and China were relatively flat, while EU online declined by approximately 10%. The ASC cited a continuation of consumer caution and said it was continuing to control costs accordingly. Global SMWS membership remained just under 40,000, around the same level as December 2025. However, this puts membership up by approximately 1,000 compared with June 2025. It added that retention remained consistent at around 70%. New member recruitment increased by approximately 15% year-on-year, with particularly strong performance in China. The ASC recently revealed membership grew by just over 20% in the first four months of 2026. Outlook The ASC board said it was ‘encouraged’ by the group’s strategic growth initiatives, particularly Artisan Casks, as well as SMWS and SCN in the US. It added that it is ‘confident’ in its full-year expectations. CEO Andrew Dane said: “We are pleased with the progress made during the first half of 2026 from the key strategic areas we have been focusing on. “Revenue from our branded businesses increased by high single digits, supported by strong performances from SCN and Artisan Casks, while membership growth, retention and recruitment trends remained encouraging across SMWS. “Alongside continued cost efficiencies, this delivered improved profitability from our branded businesses and a meaningful improvement in cash flow. “Looking ahead, we remain focused on delivering our expectations for the full year, through a combination of continued momentum on sales from our branded businesses and continuing to unlock significant value through trade cask sales.” Related news Irish whiskey to outpace Scotch in travel retail

美國麥克亨利雪茄威士忌酒吧開工 歷經8年終動工

Google News(Whisky 綜合)|原題:8 years after city approval, work begins on McHenry cigar and whiskey bar at former McDonald’s - Shaw Local

On Dec. 17, 2018, the McHenry City Council gave A. J. “Sam” Shah its nod of approval for a cigar and whiskey bar. Last week, work began to transform 522 S. Route 31, at the corner of Charles J. Miller Road, into that bar. Demolition has started inside, and a construction waste hauler sits next to the former fast food restaurant. “He is finally moving forward with his plans,” said Ross Polerecky, director of community development. Between personal issues, getting funding together and working on his other businesses, it has taken time to get to this point, Shah said this week. He now has a demolition permit from the city and workers are clearing out the building as he interviews contractors for the interior renovation, Shah said. He hopes to gets the bar – he does not have a name for it yet – open in about six months. With the delayed opening, if Shah wants to serve food inside, he will now only need to wait another dozen or so years. The former McDonald’s on the property has a deed restriction on the property. The site has sat empty since the fast-food restaurant closed and moved to a new location a quarter-mile north in 2012. The deed restriction on the long-closed restaurant prohibits a buyer from cooking food inside the building for 20 years after its purchase. In his report to the City Council in 2018, economic development director Doug Martin pointed out that restriction – along with limited access to the site following road restructuring – made it a difficult site to sell. The 2018 conditional use permit from McHenry allows Shah to have food trucks on site. Shah, who also owns Sam’s Liquor & Wine across the parking lot from the new bar, said he plans to have a food truck on site “all of the time. I have talked to local people with food trucks” who are interested in setting up there. He plans to go to the city soon for his liquor license, Shah added. The conditional use permit also allows outdoor entertainment along with the outside smoking and eating area. The permit requires decorative fencing or another enclosure for the outdoor areas, and a hedge strip along the south and wet parking areas to screen headlights from the two adjacent roads.

I recently went to the U.S. Open to watch golf in person for the first time. I made two major discoveries over the course of the day. The first was that golf is a much more intimate and interactive experience than I thought it would be. Secondly, after trailing Wyndham Clark between holes under direct midday sunlight and getting caked in sand, I realized that having a cold drink in my hand was essential. Whiskey is my go-to base spirit most of the time, which sometimes limits me to ordering whiskey sours and Manhattans. But at the U.S. Open, I got hooked on the event’s official cocktail: Dewar’s lemon wedge—perfect for a hot summer day. “Nobody wants to sip a heavy cocktail … in the June sun. We thought, What would people actually order twice?” Gabe Cardarella, Dewar’s North America brand ambassador, told me. Cardarella nailed it, because if it had been up to me, I would have carried the cocktail around in a 30-ounce portable tumbler out on the green. The drink harmoniously blends tangy and refreshing lemonade, smooth 12-year-old Scotch, and cooling soda water. I felt refreshed every time I took a sip. Yes, heat waves are spreading worldwide, but my Dewar’s cocktail proved that I don’t have to sacrifice my favorite brown liquor in this climate. You might think that whisky is more suited to cold weather. That’s such an old-fashioned notion—though we at Esquire would never turn our noses up at an actual old-fashioned. We’ve been enjoying whiskey in espresso martinis, with Aperol, and in tropical cocktails. Whatever flavor you’re looking for—refreshing, bittersweet, rich, decadent; with bourbon, rye, Scotch, or Irish whiskey—we have a recipe on our cocktail roster below. Dewar’s Lemon Wedge Ingredients - 1 1/2 oz Dewar’s 12 Year Old - 3 oz club soda - 2 oz lemonade Directions Add Dewar’s whisky and lemonade into a highball glass over cubed ice. Top with club soda. Stir gently to mix. Garnish with a lemon wedge. Bowman Brothers Double Barrel Cocktail Ingredients - 1 1/2 oz Bowman Brothers Virginia Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 3/4 oz dry vermouth - 3/4 oz sweet vermouth - 3/4 oz Bittermens Transatlantic Modern Aromatic Bitters - 3/4 oz orange bitters Directions Pour Bowman Brothers, dry vermouth, and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass. Add 14 drops of Bittermens Modern Aromatic Bitters and 3 dashes of orange bitters into the mixing glass. Add ice into the mixing glass and stir with a long barspoon. Pour the mixture into a chilled stemmed cocktail glass using a cocktail strainer. Homestead Sour Ingredients - 1 1/2 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon - 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice - 1/2 oz Alpeggio Hay Liqueur - 1/2 oz honey syrup (2:1 ratio of water to honey) Directions Pour the bourbon and liqueur into a mixing glass. Make honey syrup from water and honey in a 2-to-1 mixture. Add fresh squeezed lemon juice and honey syrup to the shaker with the spirits. Shake until frothy and pour into a glass over ice. Angel’s Envy Peach Smash Ingredients - 1 1/2 oz Angel’s Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels - 3/4 oz Reál Peach Syrup - 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice - 3 oz Fever Tree Sparkling Sicilian Lemonade Directions Pour all ingredients into a highball glass filled with ice and stir. Top with Fever Tree Sicilian Lemonade. Garnish with a mint and peach ring and enjoy! Old-fashioned Ingredients • 2 oz rye or bourbon • 2 dashes Angostura bitters • 1 sugar cube • Club soda Directions Place the sugar cube in an old-fashioned glass. Wet it down with Angostura bitters and a short splash of club soda. Crush the sugar with a wooden muddler, then rotate the glass so that the sugar grains and bitters give it a lining. Add a large ice cube. Pour in the whiskey. Garnish with an orange twist and serve with a stirring rod if you’re so inclined. Manhattan Ingredients • 2 oz rye whiskey • 1 oz Italian vermouth • 2 dashes Angostura bitters Directions Stir the rye, vermouth, and bitters well with cracked ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist and/or a cocktail cherry. Irish Coffee Ingredients • 2 oz Irish whiskey • 5 oz coffee • 2 tsp sugar • Heavy cream Directions Pour the whiskey, coffee, and sugar into a stemmed, heated glass mug. Stir, then top off with a thick layer of lightly whipped heavy cream. Mint Julep Ingredients • 3 oz bourbon • 5 or 6 mint leaves • 1 tsp sugar for simple syrup Directions Place mint leaves in the bottom of a prechilled, dry pewter cup. Add sugar and an equal amount of water to the cup, and crush slightly with a muddler. Pack the glass with finely cracked ice, then pour a generous 3 ounces of Kentucky bourbon over the ice. Stir briskly until the glass frosts. Add more ice and stir again before serving. Stick a few sprigs of mint into the ice to get the aroma. Paper Plane Ingredients • 3/4 oz bourbon • 3/4 oz Aperol • 3/4 oz Amaro Nonino Quintessentia • 3/4 oz lemon juice Directions Shake ingredients well with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Sazerac Ingredients • 2 1/2 oz rye whiskey • 1 sugar cube • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters • 1 dash Angostura bitters • Absinthe Directions In an old-fashioned glass, muddle a sugar cube with a few drops of water. Add several small ice cubes, then rye whiskey, Peychaud’s bitters, and Angostura bitters. Stir well. Roll a few drops of absinthe around a second, chilled old-fashioned glass until the inside is thoroughly coated. Pour off the excess. Strain the contents of the first glass into the second. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel. Esquire Campfire Martini (by Jac’s on Bond) Ingredients - 2 oz Jefferson’s Reserve Bourbon - 1 1/2 oz cold-brew concentrate - 1/2 oz Tempus de Fugit Crème de Banane - 1/2 oz Borghetti Espresso Coffee Liqueur - Egg white from one egg Directions Add liquid ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Crack the egg and add the whites to the shaker. Dry-shake for 10 seconds to froth up the egg white. Add ice to the shaker and shake again to chill and dilute, then strain into a martini glass. Toast a marshmallow to sit on top as a garnish.
